Chairlift Discuss Music, Dreams & Ghosts
Is Chairlift from another planet? Caroline Polachek, Patrick Wimberly and Aaron Pfenning shared their views on music, dreams, the end of the world and ghosts in an interview with Nylon magazine.
“Music is like a train of thought. It’s like a sonic train of thought. That’s what music different from sound,” Caroline said.
She said when asked about dreams, “I saw graffiti on the wall in Chelsea that said ‘make dreams real’. I was like, ‘There’s a lot stupid and bad dreams’.”
As for influences, Caroline said, “Brian Eno, David Bowie. I love David Byrne, but he really make his way of the record.”
When asked if she’d prefer an encounter with ghosts or aliens, Caroline responded, “Ghosts. I still haven’t figured out people yet, so I’m not ready for level two.”
