Darius Danesh Explains Why He Didn’t Sign With Simon Cowell
Pop Idol star Darius Danesh has revealed to the Sunday Mail why he didn’t sign with Simon Cowell. “I passed him a demo of ‘Colourblind’ and said: ‘I’d like you to hear this song’.” Danesh explained. “He threw it on the table. ‘Don’t worry about these things. I’ve got a bunch of songs that are proven hits. I’ve thought about it and the right song to launch your career is ‘You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling’.’ I was stunned. I couldn’t believe it. Yeah, pull the other one, it’s got bells on, I thought. I half- expected a man with a camera to come from around the corner at that point, saying, “Got you!'” Explaining his decision to turn down Cowell, Danesh added, “I realized I had to find some way of getting out of the situation I was in. I was tied into something that prevented me fulfilling my dreams as a singer- songwriter. It was a sticky situation. I didn’t know what to do. It occurred to me it might be a big mistake to turn down a deal from such a brilliant businessman. I respected Simon because I believed he would achieve anything he set out to do. But I didn’t want to make a career out of singing covers.”
