The New York Daily News reports editors for celebrity weeklies are suspecting Jessica Simpson’s spokesman Rob Shuter issuing the following anonymous quote in reaction to the recent Us Weekly cover of a shirtless Nick Lachey: “The Us Weekly issue sold really well in Chelsea, but that’s about it. It was the gayest cover in years.”
One editor remarked, “[Nick] doesn’t deal with the $1.99 magazines and he’s basically slaughtering Jessica in the press. Jessica comes off as so manipulated and manipulative in her bid for public sympathy.”
