Sony/Jive Angry At MTV For VMA Costs?

The New York Post is reporting record labels are upset at MTV for having to foot the costs of their acts performances on the MTV Video Music Awards.

Jive reportedly paid around $1 million for costs associated with and ’s performances, while Sony picked up a $250,000 tab for the J.Lo - Ja.Rule performance.

A rep told the Post, “Sony and Zomba are thinking of calling a meeting next week and telling MTV they will no longer pick up the tab.”

An MTV rep denied the claim saying “MTV paid for the VMA’s in full, including all rehearsals and staging for every performance.”
