Pregnancy Inspires Roisin Murphy’s New Single ‘Momma’s Place’

Roisin Murphy’s new single ‘Momma’s Place’ is available for purchase in the UK on January 18th, and the US on January 19th. The Irish pop singer spoke about the release in a video at her YouTube channel. “When I got pregnant, it sort of inspired me to write this,” explained Murphy, who gave birth to Clodagh Henwood on December 15th. “It’s about perhaps saying to my child, ‘Don’t try and get one over on me, I’ve been as naughty as you can ever be.’ I’ve lived to tell the tale sort of thing.” Watch the update below.

Roisin Murphy Discusses Plans For Post EMI Material

Roisin Murphy was on BBC 6 Music, talking about her upcoming material, her new single ‘Demon Lover’, and why she got rid of her record company EMI. Asked about who’s releasing her third album, she didn’t know who or if it will even be a proper album. “I’m also thinking I’ll wait in terms of album. Roisin Murphy’s Whacky Wardrobe Is Essential

Roisin Murphy spoke with the Irish Voice that the odd costumes she wears on stage, calling them essential because they say something about the song she’s singing, while freeing her up to take risks. “If I went on stage in jeans and a t-shirt that would be dishonest,” the Arklow, Ireland born pop singer explained. “Even when I was a little girl in Wicklow I had an exhibitionist streak, like the time I went into town and got my hair shaved into a marine cut. Roisin Murphy tells the Daily Star she’s okay with Sophie Ellis Bextor’s next single being ‘On & Off’, the song Roisin originally recorded with No 1 star Calvin Harris, 24, but never used. “I think it is a lot better than my version actually,” the former Moloko singer said. “I think it suits her voice better - it is more narrative somehow with her singing it. That kind of dry delivery that she does, it doesn’t sound like anybody else, she has really made it her own.”

Sophie Ellis Bextor ‘Off And On’ & ‘Heartbreak Make Me A Dancer’ Audio

June 2, 2008 - Sophie has posted a pair of new tracks on her MySpace player, presumably to be included on the British pop singer’s forthcoming fourth studio album out later this year. Sophie also announced this morning she’s set to take part in this summer’s The House Festival at Chiswick House and Gardens on July 10th. Tickets are priced at £150 with profits going towards restoring the house and gardens, including planting more than 1,600 new trees and building a new café. Roisin Murphy Performs On ‘Later… With Jools Holland’

Roisin Murphy was on ‘Later… with Jools Holland’ on Friday (November 9) with shoulder pads in full effect, performing ‘You Know Me Better’ and ‘Primitive’, from her new album ‘Overpowered’. And during a backstage interview before the show, the Moloko star talked about being on the show for the first time as a solo artist, getting progressively more experimental on every album she’s made, and what to expect from her performance. Unfortunately she wasn’t asked about the frightening eye socket injury suffered at her Moscow gig last month. Assuming the show was taped after the accident, Murphy appears to have recovered nicely. Video at bbc.co.uk has since been removed.
