September talks about how Kylie Minogue is among her role modelsHard2Beat talked with September (Petra Marklund), where the Swedish dance singer talked about being inspired by Kylie Minogue and Sophie Ellis Bextor, her rise to fame, and her 2003 single ‘We Can Do It’.

“My biggest role models were Kylie Minogue and Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Madonna, and a lot of big stars. I wanted to become an artist and I wanted to sing disco dance music,” she explained. “At first I was singing in a jazz band, I was like 13-14, and the rest of the bands were like 60, 70 years old and we were performing together. I started calling myself September six years ago and from that time I’ve been travelling all over Europe, but everything began in Sweden. I maybe had eight hit songs on the list in Sweden, then other countries started to find me.”

A Valentine’s Day Themed Interview With September

September offered her thoughts on Valentine’s Day in a video clip at her Bebo page, as well as leaving a special Valentine’s message for all her fans. The Swedish dance singer said her ultimate Valentine’s date would be spent with the one she loves and offered a special message to her grandfather in heaven. September added that she never sends out Valentine’s Day cards, but would rather show her affection. Diamonds are the best present for a girl, September suggested.

September is out with behind the scenes footage for her ‘Can’t Get Over’ music video. September talked about the treatment, where she has to rescue her man in a jail up in space. The single is off the Stockholm, Sweden dance pop singer’s third album ‘Dancing Shoes’, out now Catchy Tunes.

September, real name Petra Marklund, was briefly on the phone with Toby Knapp of Hot 99.5 FM in Washington, DC on Wednesday (June 6). September was asked about President Bush, underwear, and the importance of ‘Cry For You’ being a hit in the U.S. to her.
