How Did The Scripted Kiss Get So Much Attention?
Jon Pareles, Neil Strauss, Ben Ratliff and Kelefa Sanneh of the New York Times listened to a lot of bad pop music in 2003 and took part in a conversational column about the subject. One item brought up was Madonna’s “complete misfire” with ‘American Life’ and her kiss with Britney Spears at the MTV Video Music Awards. Strauss said, “What’s amazing about that to me is that something that’s totally rehearsed and scripted gets so much attention. It wasn’t like they actually kissed out of passion.” Sanneh added, “Well, yeah, it was staged. It was a live music video in a sense. And so in that sense it was a totally appropriate moment for the Video Music Awards.” Read more.

I’m sure Christina doesn’t feel it got enough attention, For her at least. It’s like she wasn’t even there, lol. She gets more publicity for her weight gain then when she kisses a woman on national TV. That’s what I call a total failure.
Everything Britney does gets a lot of attention because she is interesting and haters/lovers can’t get enough of her.. Yeah and it is amazing how it got a lot of attention.. I feel very sorry for the “Shadow” who got only like 1% of the attention, LOL.
it gets so much attention because people keep writing articles about it. it’s getting old now.

that’s because Britney and Madonna were trying to publicize their crap albums, Christina didn’t need the publicity anymore because her awesome album has been out for awhile while Madonna’s flopped and Brit is more known for her personal life rather than that ***** she calls music. besides, it’s not like Chrissy’s OBSESSED with Madonna, like a certain someone.
of course brit came out before Christina because she will be the next Madonna and Christina will always live in Britney’s shadow! That’s basically how its always gonna be! Just live with it. Now you are gonna post something about Christina being a better singer! YEAH WE KNOW! AND WE DON’T CARE!
i think it got some much attetion because everyone wants to know what Britney’s going to do next because she always shocks people with her stage performances!
Hey guys, it’s me, Christina Aguilera! I’m so bitter that Britney and Madonna got all the attention for the kiss, and not me! I WANTED PUBLICITY TOO! but I’m boring and not interesting to people, so people didn’t give a sh*t about my kiss! and I wanted to make out with Britney too, but Britney didn’t want to make out with me because she didn’t want to get my infections. :-( OH WELL. bye guys, I’m going to go do another magazine interview and ***** about how I didn’t get publicity and the other two did!
I’m just sick of trying to be a “bada*s” in interviews, that’s not me. the truth is…’, ‘my bada*s image is fake. I’m bitter about not getting publicity. I’m also bitter at Britney because she didn’t make out with me at the club. And I was really horny and wanted to. I have herpies. I’m a ***** and I’m rude to my fans.
Damn and once again Xtina’s name is not mentioned, oh well! Why would anyone complain about the kiss being staged, everything about the VMAs and every other awards show is “staged”. What a useless complaint. And why give the kiss more attention if you don’t like the attention it got.
It’s all Christina’s fault. She has this hidiously disgusting persona. Her look and actions are so objectionable that mainstream public doesn’t want to see or read information about her. A lot of them will buyher music but don’t want to see her. Christina thinks that to be a true “sexual” person means she has to become a slutty person. You can be much more sexy without being overt. The public really wouldn’t be surprised to hear or see Christina give oral sex to someone on stage. She’s that disgusting. What her fans fail to realize is that the lack of coverage of her part of the kiss is not MTV’s fault. Pictures of both kisses made the wires together. It was the news agencies that chose to exclude her from their coverage. You take pride in being a skank, you suffer the consequences
