Pop guru and billion dollar businessman Lou Pearlman, the man who put together pop sensation boybands *NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys, has just released his autobiography, ‘Bands, Brands, and Billions’. In the book, Pearlman compares Backstreet to Coke, writing, ‘If Backstreet turns out to be a dominant brand like Coke, someone is going to come along and create a Pepsi. We might as well beat them to it.’ Pearlman’s Pepsi, is of course, *NSYNC. He continues, ‘I identified the popular music market and, more specifically, the teenage girl audience as the primary target for the music and merchandise of the Backstreet Boys. My challenge was to convince the millions and millions of teen pop music buyers that the Backstreet Boys were the brand name band they should buy into.’

Timberlake Says There’s No Timeline On *NSYNC Album

October 28, 2002 - *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake provided perhaps the most visible example of tension between he and bandmate JC Chasez to Jim Farber of the New York Daily News. Timberlake says “there’s no timeline” in terms of the next project from the group and added, “I hear through the grapevine that JC wants to do a solo album.” And about Lance Bass’ attempts to blast himself into space, Timberlake just says, “You have to talk to him. It’s scary as hell to me. I don’t even like being in planes.”
