Brendan James checked in with fans on his blog at MySpace (@brendanjames) on Saturday (December 6), after performing at the New York Stock Exchange’s 85th annual Christmas tree lighting on Broad Street the previous day. The singer songwriter tells readers:
As you know I had the honor of performing at the 85th annual NY Stock Exchange on Thursday. It felt so good to be able to share the stage with Gavin DeGraw and Aretha Franklin. The weather was perfect (well, when I went on) and there were thousands of people filling Wall Street, I had never seen it like that. I sang “Oh Holy Night” and “Happy XMas/War is Over”
I thought the John Lennon song was appropriate given the current climate of the stock exchange…
“So this is Christmas and what have you done? Another year over, and a new one just begun”
I’m looking forward to our new year beginning, I feel like we have some good coming to us. Back to that day, we got the true rock-star treatment (Thank you Chris O’Donnel) Due to the high security of the NYSE We were pretty much stuck in our dressing room for a large part of the day, I’m not gonna lie, some wackiness ensued after the first 2 hours, lets just say some interesting phrases were thrown up on the Hang Man Board. Luckily Steve, our page for the day, came and took us on a grand tour of the building including getting to go out and see the trading floor. You wouldn’t think it would be a big deal but once you were in there It was really unbelievable to think that the whole world is effected by what was going on that very second in that very room. I got nervous I was gonna trip on a plug and shut the whole thing down.
I’m on the road right now, but I’ll try to get on tomorrow to tell you about Hamilton College and everything else going on!
Peace and Love
