Charlotte Church has slammed Pope Benedict XVI after his criticism of the Harry Potter books, where he suggested they were “a subtle seduction, which has deeply unnoticed and direct effects in undermining the soul of Christianity.” The singer told The Sun, “I’m from a Catholic family. But I don’t like this new Pope. He even wants to ban Harry Potter! He says it is because of witchcraft and other bad stuff! If he bothered to sit down and read it he’d understand the morals of it.”

February 26, 2004 - The New York Post reports that with the stench of their notorious bomb ‘Gigli’ still thick in the air, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s new flick, ‘Jersey Girl’, is being released by Miramax on March 26th with almost no mention of J.Lo. Miramax officials insisted that the company’s plan from Day 1 was to downplay J.Lo, because she appears in the movie for only 12 to 15 minutes, in what the officials call “a cameo.” Miramax spokeswoman Amanda Lundberg said. “She’s not the star of the movie [and] the marketing materials reflect her role in the film.”

The Scottish Daily Record reports Charlotte Church has come down on the dress habits of Britney Spears when she was 16. Church says, “I think Britney was a bad role model for 12-year-olds and under. When she was 16 she seemed to behave much older.” As for now, she’s OK with Britney’s wardrobe saying, “Now that she’s nearly 20, it’s cool to dress the way she does. But at 16, I don’t think she was the best role model.”
