Daniel Powter Never Expected Success

Daniel Powter tells MTV News he never expected any sort of success, which is part of the reason he believes he’s receiving it. “I got signed more or less after we made the record, so I think if I had that in the beginning, I probably would’ve sang about my rims,” said Powter. “Instead it was the exact opposite. I’m singing about Styrofoam in certain songs. … I’m singing about stuff that you probably wouldn’t put on a record if you thought you were supposed to go out and sell a lot of them. It’s kind of been a blessing in a way, though, because it’s me.” Read more.

Head Scar Is Daniel Powter Most Embarrassing Injury

‘Top Of The Pops’ caught up with Daniel Powter in a Q&A and asked the ‘Bad Day’ singer what’s the most embarrassing injury he’s ever had.

“The most embarrassing injury? Probably this one right here, on the back of my head. [Lifts his hat to reveal a big scar.] Which was a, er, bad cut, a deep cut,” he explained. “I don’t like to talk about that because it’s kind of psychological, I feel like I’m on the couch, but… embarrassing injury. That, and… and, this is a true story, because I think I talked about this last time. I was actually, when I was very foolish and young, on a bet, I had to go and run around with all my clothes off in Vancouver. So we all had go to one bar naked - it was kind of like a university thing - while I was running through it, this is a true story, I sprained my ankle. So I was naked with a sprained ankle, and I am not kidding. You can phone Brian and Mark and ask them. So I came limping - not streaking out, running out - It was very awful.”
