In a statement, Michael’s publicist said: “It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period. The family would ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult and emotional time. There will be no further comment at this stage.”

George Michael Thanks Doctors & Fans After Life Threatening Pneumonia Battle

After being treated in Austria for pneumonia, pop star George Michael told reporters he was still feeling weak and revealed it was “touch and go” whether he would survive the illness. The 48-year-old also checked in with his Twitter followers (@GeorgeMichael) after the statement outside his London home. George writes:

George Michael Recovering From Pneumonia, Postpones Tour

George Michael’s official web site announced the postponement of the remaining dates on the Symphonica tour due to the British pop singer’s ongoing battle with pneumonia. Doctors advised the 48-year-old to suspend the tour and instead take a full and complete rest.

Prof. Dr. Christoph Zielinski, Chairman, Department of Medicine General Hospital - Medical University Vienna, Austria and Prof. Dr. Thomas Staudinger, Specialist in Internal Medicine and Intensive Care Medicine have stated the following:

George Michael has severe community acquired pneumonia and is being treated as an inpatient. His condition has stabilized and he is responding to treatment. From the current point of view, the time until recovery cannot be estimated, but he will not be able to perform the rest of the tour. Besides medical treatment, complete rest and peace and quiet are mandatory.

George Michael Touring With A Symphony Orchestra

George Michael has announced a 47-date tour that will see him perform across Europe with a symphony orchestra.

“What I actually said was that I wouldn’t do another arena show,” the British singer said in response to earlier claims his prior tour would be his last. “But what I really meant was I couldn’t see myself doing a big greatest hits show again.”

George Michael Crashes Range Rover Into Snappy Snaps

George Michael was arrested early Sunday on suspicion of driving while unfit after his Range Rover crashed into the front of the Snappy Snaps photo shop near his home in Hampstead. Boy George tells ITN the long running feud between himself and George Michael is long gone. “There’s no problem with me and George and there hasn’t been for a long time,” the singer said. “We haven’t spoken recently, but you know I’ve always liked him as an artist. George Michael ‘Live In London’

On August 24-25, George Michael filmed his final two concerts of the 25 Live Tour at London’s Earls Court arena. The performances were put on a special 23-song concert DVD, ‘Live in London’, which is Michael’s first live DVD. ‘Live in London’, out now, features tracks spanning the British pop star’s career, as well as a bonus behind-the-scenes documentary.

George Michael Apologizes After Yet Another Arrest

BBC News reports George Michael has apologized after his arrest at a public restroom in London on Friday, where the singer was charged with possessing class A and class C drugs, believed to by crack cocaine and marijuana. “I want to apologize to my fans for screwing up again, and to promise them I’ll sort myself out,” Michael said in a statement. “And to say sorry to everybody else, just for boring them.”

A Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed news of the arrest, saying, “A 45-year-old man was arrested on 19 September on suspicion of possession of drugs in the Hampstead Heath area.” Read more.

George Michael Arrested For Crack And Marijuana Possession

News of the World reports George Michael was arrested at a public restroom in near London’s Hampstead Heath on Friday afternoon, where the pop singer was found in possession of crack cocaine and marijuana. “George was hanging around the toilets near the heath for quite a while. A lot of people became suspicious,” a source told the British tabloid. “He is a very well known face and eventually his odd behavior caused a toilet attendant to call the police. When the officers arrived Michael was still in the loos. They searched him and found he had drugs on him. He was quickly carted off to the police station.”
