Uh Huh Her’s Camila Grey Upset & Uninspired Watching AMAs

Camila Grey of Uh Huh Her checked in with fans on the electropop duo’s Twitter (@UhHuhHerMusic) minutes ago, reacting to Sunday night’s American Music Awards. Grey made a plea for Adam Lambert, who shook up the AMAs in 2009, to hit the stage, while not understanding award show stunts like Lady Gaga’s meat dress or someone with LMFAO wearing a box on their head. She writes:

I have to say watching the AMA’s is so upsetting. So uninspired. Are you serious about the mistletoe song! Jesus. Shoot me.

@adamlambert Please get on that stage and show em how it’s done son. X. Aye dios Mio.

If one more person thanks “God” at the AMA’s… I mean…

Sang Mary J!!!!!!!!!!

I guess it just boils down to me not getting music in 2011. Boxes on heads, meat outfits, etc. Where is the music? So confused. Lol.

But I digress…I will now stop bitching about the AMA’s and read some Camus. LOL. Goodnight all.

I sound like my parents. Awesome.

Uh Huh Her Reach Middle Stages Recording New Album

Uh Huh Her updated fans on their blog at MySpace (@uhhuhhermusic) on Thursday (August 6), talking about progress on a follow-up to their 2008 debut album ‘Common Reaction’. The indie pop duo write:

We’re currently in the middle stages of recording our record, which is very exciting. We’ve had a lot of time to sit back and contemplate life, liberty, and the usual. This new record is very adventurous, and we’ve found that we have so much material that we’ll have ample songs leftover for B-sides and another EP for sure.

To sum it all up we thank you for your patience and support! It’s been really cathartic going through this whole process on our own, all by ourselves. Learning a lot!

Uh Huh Her “Are Still In The Haze Of Song Writing”

Uh Huh Her checked in with fans on their blog at MySpace (@uhhuhhermusic) on Tuesday (May 26), talking about progress on a follow-up to their debut album ‘Common Reaction’. The indie pop duo write:

Hello everyone….we are in our studio and thought we’d give you an update in the world of UHH. We finally got the limited edition “Common Reaction” white vinyl in our hands and we plan to have those up for sale in our store within the next couple of weeks. They look amazing and I spun one in my house the other day and it sounded perfect. We are still in the haze of song writing. Songs come, songs get thrown out, songs get re-worked. This is the process and we love it here. I promise we won’t stay here forever even though we could. How about instead of us touring a new record, you come here one by one and we’ll play you our new songs. We can order in whatever you’d like and either play them live or we could jump in one of our cars and crank the speakers under the stars. I like it. Cam makes a great homemade trail/nut mix. In fact she just handed me some and it’s really off the hook, I’m not kidding. She says instead of going nuts she just mixes them. If you live in Portland or Seattle them you’ll be seeing us soon. Also I think we are going to attempt to Twitter again. I can’t promise much but we’ll give it a try. We hope you’re all having a beautiful summer so far. xo, UHH

Uh Huh Her Hit A Wall After 3 Months Of Writing

Uh Huh Her updated fans on their blog at MySpace (@uhhuhhermusic) on Friday (March 27) as Leisha Hailey and Camila Grey work feverishly on their sophomore album. The Los Angeles based indie pop duo tell readers:

Well it’s been 3 months of writing and we hit a wall today. We had to go out in the parking lot and play Nerf football to let off some steam. The band next door started playing when they were on their cigarette break (smoking kills) and threw our ball up on the roof. It’s down now. Our studio is super cute. We’ve been having a great time in here. Our dreams finally came true and we’ve been able to write together in the same room for more than 4 days at a time. Cam keeps the air conditioner at some arctic setting and I have to bring layers of clothing to get through the day. She is also on some sort of cleanse so she’s a real joy to be around. We have two death metal bands on either side of us as well so we have to get most of our work done before they arrive. We tried to record vocals one night when they were practicing but it sounded like someone was being tortured to death in the background. Even with crazy obstacles like these we can still get a song written, that’s how deep our talent runs. We miss you terribly and promise to be more attentive to your needs. I think we’re at the point where we can come out of our little hidy hole and let you know what we’re up to. big kiss, UHH

Uh Huh Her Exit Nettwerk, Begin Writing New Material

Camila Grey of Uh Huh Her updated fans on their blog at MySpace (@uhhuhhermusic) on Wednesday (January 21), revealing that they’ve begun working on the follow-up to their 2008 debut album ‘Common Reaction’ and that they’re no longer with Nettwerk. The Los Angeles based electro pop artist tells readers:

Since returning from Holiday we wanted to let you know that we’re once again in “writing” mode. This means new EP, new record, NEW NEW NEW! We got a cute studio space where we don’t have to build teepees to cut vocals in. It’s very vibey, so hopefully some good stuff will come out of it. We’d been touring the ‘Common Reaction’ album for a bit, and we thought it’s high time for some new songs. We realize that it hasn’t even come out in Europe, which it still might. We’re looking for the right home for it over there… Which brings me to say that sadly we will be leaving Nettwerk Records this year to become “free agents” once again… We felt as did the label that we were destined for different paths. In any case, we thank them for all their help in building this band from the ground up, and wish them nothing but the best.

Uh Huh Her Writing New Material, Thank Fans For Attending Tour

Uh Huh Her updated fans on their blog at MySpace (@uhhuhhermusic) on Thursday (December 11). The Los Angeles based electro pop duo tell readers:

Hello Lovelies.

We’re writing to tell everyone thank you so much for coming out and supporting us on the road. We had such an amazing tour, and thanks to all of you we had a very successful one. We couldn’t have done it without you! So muchas gracias, merci, Grazie, Danke, Obrigado and all the other ways to say thank you. We really do.

As for right now, we’re writing material for records and Ep’s to come at our new studio “Funworld”. We named our tourbus “funworld” so we thought we’d follow suit with our new studio. It’s like an alternate universe, and we dig it. We might even make an acoustic record because we hear you guys like those kinds of things? We’re always listening…so watch out!

We wish all of you happy holidays(daze) and see you in the new year.

Uh Huh Her Are Like Oil And Vinegar

Camila Grey of Uh Huh Her spoke with the Toronto Sun about how she and bandmate Leisha Hailey tend to work from opposite points on the songwriting spectrum. “We’re very different, we’re kind of like oil and vinegar or salt and pepper,” Grey explained. “She’s more organic. She wants to write with guitars, whereas I want to produce the whole track in one fell swoop. We have very different writing styles, which I guess in this situation complement each other. She brings me down to earth and I make her technical.” Read more.

Uh Huh Her Discuss Songwriting On ‘Common Reaction’

Uh Huh Her webisode 7 features Leisha Hailey and Camila Grey talking about how sometimes they write music from a personal perspective and sometimes not, their debut album ‘Common Reaction’ not being all about love, finishing each other’s lyrics and songwriting together.

“Sometimes you write music completely personally, and sometimes you don’t,” Hailey said as Grey looked on. “Sometimes you make up a story and you want to tell the story that has nothing to do with you, but you have to find a place where you’re finding truth in the music obviously so you can sing it. There’s a lot about love, but I don’t think when we say love all the time it’s necessary about love. It can be about different things.”
