Since Natalie Imbruglia’s much-hated “bikini days” as a teenage actress on ‘Neighbours’, she has had an aversion to exposing much flesh. “I think it’s sad that women feel pressure to strip off just to get on the cover of a magazine,” she tells the Telegraph. “I don’t want to be on the cover of a magazine if I have to take my clothes off. I don’t think it’s more sexy, either. When you see so many cleavages and women with their legs spread, it desensitises you and it just becomes quite vulgar. If I was more confident of myself in that way, maybe I’d flaunt it. But it’s not who I am.” Read more.
Imbruglia Has A Healthy Attitude About Song That Launched Her
Terrina Hussein and Adly Syairi Ramly of the Malay Mail caught up with Natalie Imbruglia for a Q&A and asked the singer how she views her breakout smash ‘Torn’ today, seven years since its release and a track some consider an albatross which she hasn’t been able to top. “I was lucky to be given that song and to be able to make a connection with people all over the world. How fantastic! I mean, who would’ve thought or dreamed of something that amazing,” Imbruglia asked. “So, I think I’ve got quite a healthy attitude about it. Some people get really bitter and don’t want to sing the song that launched their career. I can understand that, if they really don’t like the song anymore. For me, I still like the song. Maybe because I didn’t write it, I can still have that appreciation for it, and yeah, it’ll still be in the set list if I go on tour.”

Natalie Imbruglia Goes Straightforward Pop On Latest
‘Top Of The Pops’ caught up with Natalie Imbruglia for a Q&A and asked the singer she’d describe the sound of her new single and album. “I think it’s a lot more uplifting and positive than my second album, because I was in a bit of a black hole during that time,” she responded. “I’ve got a lot more potential singles on this record, and it’s just more of a feelgood album. There’s still a few sad moments, but overall, it’s just probably a bit more straightforward pop.”
Natalie Imbruglia Chats With ‘Scotland Today’
‘Scotland Today’ correspondent Billy Sloan spoke to singer Natalie Imbruglia about the release of her new album and the first single ‘Shiver’. Asked what the inspiration was on the new single, Imbruglia responded, “It came along at the last minute. Eggwhites, who I’d written ‘Slow Down’ on the record with, got together with Shep Solomon. Huge Goldsmith got them to write a song specifically for me, and that’s always a weird thing when the record company does that and they played it to me towards the end and me being me was like a bit defensive about it. And I heard the song and I was like, ‘I actually really like this song’. Really it’s their baby, and I’m very happy for it to be the first song on the record.”
Natalie Imbruglia: I’m A Music Writer Director
Sky News caught up with Natalie Imbruglia for a Q&A and asked the singer if she writes any music herself. “It’s hard to explain - I consider myself a director,” the L’Oreal beauty responded. “You’re in the room for the ‘birth’ of the song. It’s constantly about your taste, what you’re drawn to. You decide if something is too cheesy and you’re doing the melodies. I don’t play an instrument so I’m not a musician, but I’m very hands-on.” The chat transcript at sky.com has since been removed.

He’s got his own things going on.”
