Selena Gomez Talks New Album, ‘Stars Dance’ Tour & Becoming An Adult
Selena Gomez visited Walmart Soundcheck to perform a special live version of her smash single ‘Come and Get It’, taken from the pop singer’s #1 new album ‘Stars Dance’, along with previous singles ‘Hit The Lights’, ‘Who Says’, ‘Love You Like A Love Song’ and ‘Naturally’, before sitting down for a revealing interview where she dishes on her 2013 tour plans, taking a break from music, how her new album came together, and more.
Discussing how she’s grown up from her ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ days, Selena said, “I’m transitioning from being a young adult to being an adult. I don’t really feel like an adult half the time…I work with adults and I have to carry myself as one, and you know, I have a lot of responsibilities but at the end of the day I still feel like a kid.”
Sharing why she picked the name of her latest album, Gomez said, “The reason why I named the album, “Star Dance,” is because it was one of my favorite tracks on the album. When I recorded the song I knew that it was really special and it was going to be a great moment on tour and I just believe in that song.”
Talking about taking a break from music, Selena said, “I was able to do other things that I really wanted to do. My series ended that I was doing for four years, and I just kind of wanted to take a moment to reflect on all the things I got to experience, and it is actually something that I’ve been wanting to do, but just wanting to make sure I had the time to do it. I waited and took about 6 months to record the record and it was really fun. It was a great time and opportunity for me to really grow as an artist.”
As for Selena’s 2013 tour plans, she said, “I grew up with Britney Spears and *NSYNC and Janet Jackson… They went on stage and gave a show with incredible dance routines or just fun wardrobe ideas. So that’s what I would really like to do for this tour is get really into the entertainment and performing aspect of it all. Making it seem like it’s old school stuff, you know, bringing all of the music to life with choreography.”
