Adam Levine: Christina Aguilera’s Weight Is No One’s Business

Christina Aguilera talks about Secret Potion

Adam Levine is coming to the defense of his fellow judge and mentor on ‘The Voice’, Christina Aguilera. The Maroon 5 singer told reporters that despite the show playing up a feud between the two, they are anything but enemies and he’ll stick up for the ‘Your Body’ singer, especially when the attacks are about her weight.

“The one thing about the culture right now, celebrity culture particularly, is people feel like they can just say nasty things about other people whether it’s Christina or whether it’s me,” said Levine. “She gets a lot and it pisses me off. Of course I have her back and of course I defend her.”

Adam says that people who go after Aguilera about being a bit larger than the Hollywood prototype are engaged in bullying. “It’s not cool, the 33-year-old said. “I’ve never liked it. I think it’s horrible and I’ll totally defend her when people say things like that because it’s no one’s business.”

Christina Aguilera On Working With Melina Matsoukas, Sia Furler

Christina Aguilera does an interview about her new album 'Lotus', the delay in putting new music out, working with Melina Matsoukas on the 'Your Body' music video and teaming again with Sia Furler

Christina Aguilera chatted with VEVO News for an interview, where the pop singer talked about trying to juggle motherhood with her music and work on ‘The Voice’, taking time between albums, enlisting Melina Matsoukas for the ‘Your Body’ music video, and her “amazing collaborations” with Sia Furler.

Commenting on her busy workload, Christina said, “It was really hard for me to sort of juggle everything. Being a mom, being on ‘The Voice’, which is crazy long hours. Every project that I put my foot forward in doing I believe whole-heartedly, passionately in, so I can’t give anything less than 150%. When you’re going, going going like that, it’s a lot of work.”

Talking about delays between albums, Aguilera said, “Fans are like, ‘When are we gonna hear new music?’ for a while now, but it’s gotta be right. I have to put things out and only do things when it just feels 100% genuine. I’m finally at a place now where it’s taken some time, but I’m so thrilled with the release of the record. ‘Lotus’ is sort of me coming to this place of feeling rejuvinated and embracing myself as a woman and who I’ve become as an artist and all that I’ve experienced.”

Discussing the ‘Your Body’ music video, she said, “In the video I got to work with Melina Matsoukas, who I was really gravitating towards, because she has such an imagination. She sort of created this character that goes out. She’s definitely a bad ass. She knows what she wants, but she’s very playful and she doesn’t take herself seriously. I want the audience to have a good time too and sort of live vicariously throgh this character. It’s very playful. It’s sort of seductive and sexy. It was just a really fun character to play.”

Commenting on her latest collaboration with Sia Furler, she said, “Sia and I have done amazing collaborations together. She worked with me on the movie soundtrack ‘Burlesque’, which we got a Golden Globe nomination for. We also did a lot of work on my ‘Bionic’ record that was very sentimental and very intimate and vulnerable feeling, and that’s what I love about working with her. It’s a very natural process and we wrote a beautiful song together called ‘Blank Page’. A lot of people that hear the record say ‘That’s my favorite song on the whole record’. It’s one of those songs that I think everyone can connect to on a certain level.”

Christina Aguilera Talks Working With Max Martin On ‘Lotus’

Christina Aguilera talks with Lance Bass about her 2012 AMA performance, her new album 'Lotus' and working with Max Martin

Lance Bass sits down with Pop Diva Christina Aguilera to talk about her top music picks and her upcoming performance at the 2012 AMAs!
Aguilera talked about how she’s been living a dream, what people should expect from her seventh album ‘Lotus’, working with Max Martin on the project, being part of ‘The Voice’, and what’s on her music playlist.

Asked if she’s “living a dream”, Aguilera said, “Absolutely. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else. I’m definitely put here on this earth to do what I do and constantly grow and evolve. It’s been a really incredible journey.”

Discussing what fans can expect from her new album ‘Lotus’, Christina said, “All of my albums do represent parts of me at different times in my life. I take my time between the records because I want them to truly reflect the person that I’ve sort of grown and become from the last record. It’s about freedom and independence. A lot has gone on since the last time I had a record out, and that one, ‘Bionic’, was to reflect being a new mom and feeling like you’re all bionic woman person, musician, person, artist. Now, it’s just a place of everything that felt good to me instead of trying to, (‘Bionic’) was very futuristically inspired, but this one, it’s fun. It’s got elements of everything. I think my fans will really appreciate it. It’s supposed to reflect, throughout, the lotus to me represents this unbreakable flower that throughout the harshest of weather conditions, throughout the roughest of times, it still thrives and remains strong and beautiful. That’s sort of what the record represents.”

Talking about her work with Max Martin on the record, who co-wrote the album’s first single ‘Your Body’ as well as ‘Let There Be Love’, the pop star said, “He’s been nothing but fabulous. I think we both respect each other as artists. He actually can sing. I didn’t even know. He’s behind the board. A lot of people don’t know that. It’s great when you get behind the board with a producer that gets behind the board, he’s so involved. He’ll actually give some vocal ad-lib ideas. I’m like, ‘Okay Max, I didn’t know you could sing.’ You wouldn’t know. The experience of working with him as been great and I know the fans are excited to see us team up. He’s cranked up amazing pop hits over the last decade or so, so it’s great that our paths have finally crossed.”

Christina Aguilera Discusses ‘Lotus’, ‘The Voice’ And ‘Your Body’

Christina Aguilera, seen here in her 'Your Body' single cover pose, talked with Ryan Seacrest of KIIS FM in Los Angeles about her new album 'Lotus', the first single 'Your Body', her most recent prior hit 'Moves Like Jagger' and her decision to join 'The Voice'

Christina Aguilera was on the phone with Ryan Seacrest of 102.7 KIIS FM in Los Angeles last month to promote her new single ‘Your Body’. The pop singer and ‘The Voice’ mentor talked about the song and its music video, the message behind her new album ‘Lotus’, taking the risk to do ‘The Voice’ with Adam Levine of Maroon 5, Cee-Lo Green and Blake Shelton, her son Max, other pop stars like Britney Spears and Mariah Carey doing the TV now, what she thinks now about her first single ‘Genie In A Bottle’, the success she and Maroon 5 enjoyed on ‘Moves Like Jagger’, and more.

On ‘Your Body’, she said, “It’s just such an upbeat and fun and free song. It gives me yet the opportunity to use my pipes on it and it’s kind of anthemic and makes you want to dance and everyone can sing along to it, so it’s gonna be really fun for me to take it to the road and get an opportunity to share it with my fans.”

On the new album ‘Lotus’ being a rebirth for her, she said, “The word lotus I’ve come to getting to know it as the unbreakable flower. No matter the harshest of surroundings or what kind of weather conditions it goes through, it still stays strong and is able to stand the test of time. I’ve been around over a decade in this business, and this point in my life the last time my fans heard me, I’ve gone through a lot of stuff like being on ‘The Voice’ has inspired me in new ways. It’s about personal freedom for me. I definitely went into this record finding my individuality all over again. It’s almost like a ‘Stripped 2.0’ if you will.”

She added, “There’s definitely a secret kind of window into my heart with this record and definitely the fans will get their ballads and all of that. It definitely gives you a flavor and a piece of different sides of me, the sassy side, the vulnerable side, and a look into how I’ve been feeling and what I’ve been going through over the past few years and the new woman I’ve become. That’s what ‘Lotus’ is all about.”

Asked if she was skeptical about doing ‘The Voice’ at first, Aguilera said, “I think the four of us came together, me, Blake, Adam and Cee-Lo, and we were all sort of holding hands together and jumping off the cliff and saying we believe in this concept. I think Mark Burnett really was what really helped us all understand this wasn’t to poke fun at people, this was something that was about promoting true talent and supproting that. We can poke fun at each other, but we’re not into doing that to the people on stage. The four of us know what it’s like to have these tours, to go to these awards shows, what it takes to have the guts to go up there and perform, and it can be nerve-wracking, so we’re all in support of that. I don’t know if I could think of a better four to go up there. These guys are like my brothers at this point. It’s hilarious what we do behind the scenes and then on camera. It’s so funny. One second me and Adam are in the back, Blake’s taking a nap and I take my red lipstick out, we’re bored and we start writing profanity on the outside of his trailer.”

The Wanted Call Christina Aguilera A Bitch… But Was She For Good Reason?

The Wanted sounded off on Christina Aguilera for their encounter with the singer during their appearance on ‘The Voice’, letting New York’s Now FM know that they think she’s a “bitch”. Tom Parker, a member of the British boy band, told the radio station, “She’s a total bitch. She might not be a bitch in real life, but to us, she was a total bitch. She just sat there and didn’t speak to us. Wouldn’t even look at us.”

Meanwhile, a person claiming to work on the NBC show painted a different story about an arrogant and rude group who made insulting remarks to Christina, angering her and fellow judge Adam Levine of Maroon 5. HelixK writes at digitalspy.co.uk:

Both Christina and Adam did NOT like them at all. The guy named Tom in the band asked Christina if she felt more beautiful now that she lost all that weight? We were all shocked! She didn’t quite hear the whole question and asked her assistant if she heard what he said? But then Max jumped in and said “She is beautiful no matter what you say” in mocking kind of way. Christina’s boyfriend Matt Rutler was also backstage and didn’t like what he was hearing. Finally Christina said, “You boys better calm down and focus on yourselves.” She walked off really mad when Tom came out and told her not to worry and that “Britney still needs to work on her looks too for X Factor. It must be all those drugs she is on.” Christina was so mad!

Christina Aguilera Reveals Britney Spears’ Tony Lucca Crush After ‘The Voice’ Audition

Last night’s premiere of ‘The Voice’ on NBC featured Christina Aguilera encountering a former Mickey Mouse Club castmate, who auditioned on the program with a cover of ‘Trouble’ by Ray Lamontagne. Aguilera at first didn’t seem to recognize the singer even after he said his name, but eventually made her way backstage to catch up with the 36-year-old. After greeting Tony, his wife Rachel and son Liam, Aguilera confessed a secret from another Mickey Mouse Club member, Britney Spears. “I remember Britney had the biggest crush on you. She won’t mind me saying that,” Christina enthused, though it was apparent the wife wasn’t as excited to hear the revelation.

“We were lucky enough to get Mick’s endorsement [for the video], as far as him giving us access to a bunch of different footage that’s so cool,” Levine told MTV News on the set of the video. “Not many people have seen [it], especially a newer generation of people that don’t know so much about how incredible he was.”
