Girls Aloud Ponder Whether U.S. Push Is Worth It

Nadine Coyle tells RWD magazine that Girls Aloud have received offers to bring their act to the U.S., but are hestitant to start again from the bottom in a market that hasn’t treated UK pop acts well. “Labels want to sign us,” the 23-year-old said. “But we’re asking ourselves whether we really want to start off from scratch doing all the crap to work our way up again or are we happy at the level we’re at now – where we have a safe haven in the States where no-one knows who we are or what we’re doing?”

Girls Aloud Celebrate 2008, Look Forward To 2009

Girls Aloud checked in with fans on their e-mail list, wishing all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. The British girl group write:

Hi Everyone,

2008 has been our biggest year yet!

We’ve been on our biggest tour to date and it’s been incredible seeing so many of you in the audience. It really means so much to us. Then we released ‘Out of Control’ in November which has been our first Number One studio album. It’s just more than we could ever hope for.

Plus ‘The Promise’ went Number One too which was ace. It’s been the best year yet for Girls Aloud but 2009 is going to be even bigger and better. We’ve got some surprises lined up already…

But on Christmas day, we’re going to relax, see our families and make the most of a day off! Nadine will be spending it in the sun in LA, Cheryl will be celebrating after winning The X Factor, Kimberley will be doing the cooking, Nicola will be getting dolled up and Sarah will be getting merry on the sherry. We really hope you have an amazing time and look forward to seeing you in 2009!

Lots of Love, Nadine, Cheryl, Nicola, Sarah and Kimberley. Xxx’

Chris Martin Is Equally Crazy About Girls Aloud

Coldplay singer Chris Martin tells The Mirror that other than his wife Gwyneth Paltrow and their daughter Apple, British pop group Girls Aloud are at the top girls on his list. “Girls Aloud are my favorite girls in the world, aside from my wife and daughter, of course,” Martin said. “But they definitely come third to eighth. I chose them for the tour because I was pretty sure if people knew they were doing a gig with us they’d think that was great. I’m definitely thinking about doing a a cover of a Girls Aloud song.”

The singer continued, “A great band is great because of its chemistry - and that’s what Girls Aloud have. Do I have a favorite girl? I’d hate to risk splitting them up.”

Cheryl Cole ‘Having Thoughts’ About Having A Baby

Mail On Sunday’s You magazine talked with all five members of Girls Aloud, where Cheryl Cole revealed she’s been “having thoughts” about having a baby with her husband Ashley, despite his widely reported affairs. “Girls Aloud wouldn’t break up if I had a baby but it would change the dynamics,” the 25-year-old said. “We have been working non-stop and there will come a time when you have to prioritize things, but I’m focused on what I’m doing with the girls right now.”

Someone not ready for kids though is Cheryl’s bandmate Sarah Harding. “I’m not a girlie girl, I get on better as one of the lads because I like to get down to the nitty-gritty,” said the 27-year-old, who is dating Mahiki DJ Tom Crane, 29. “I’m not ready for children because I’m not very maternal; I’m ambitious and career-driven and I’d like to do some acting and also play polo.” The full story at dailymail.co.uk has since been removed/relocated.

Girls Aloud Turning On Nadine Coyle?

News of the World reports Girls Aloud star Nadine Coyle is creating tension with her bandmates because she’s been spending too much time in Los Angeles. “The other four can’t stand her these days because they feel her heart isn’t in the band,” a source backstage at the girl group’s taping of their ITV Christmas special revealed. “Cheryl and Kimberley are now best friends, which Nadine has found quite hurtful. She’s become very distant and seems to resent the time she has to spend in London away from her new base in LA. Getting her to show up for things can be very difficult.” The British tabloid added that Nadine has been warned to “Commit or quit.”
