After yesterday’s Hire me please! posting at her Myspace, Holly Brook checked in with fans again today promising, “I’m not giving up!”. Brook writes:
Wow I have the best fans in the world! I got so many responses to my last blog… actually hundreds, and I sat down last night and read every single one of them. Unfortunately I don’t have time to write everyone back, but thank you so much for your help! I’ve got some great ideas now.
I want to clarify one thing though… I AM NOT QUITTING MUSIC! I could never do that. I just need a job so that I can continue to create music. A lot of you suggested going on tour, but let me tell you something. Touring is very expensive. Yes, you can potentially make the money back with CD sales and stuff, but initially it costs a ton of money for travel and accommodations. Money that I don’t have! Then, if I don’t have a good tour, there is also the potential that I could end up with less money than I started with. Unless I was someone like Linkin Park, selling out stadiums.
One more thing people seemed to say a lot was, “but I thought you sang that song ‘Where’d You Go.’ Aren’t you rich?” The truth is, I got paid VERY LITTLE for that, almost 2 years ago. The exposure was priceless, and that is what’s important. But at the same time, a girls gotta eat. And I am a bit shocked myself that I didn’t get some type of bonus or something, after the song did so well.
Thanks again guys and girls! I’ll let you know how the job hunting goes.
xoxo,
Holly
