Jessie J Inspired By London Marathon Runners
Jessie J checked in with her Twitter followers (@JessieJ) on Sunday, reacting to today’s London Marathon, the first major marathon since Monday’s terrorism marred Boston Marathon, where three people died and more than one hundred injured in twin bombings. The pop star, who still is having issues related to her broken foot sustained in 2011 while rehearsing at the Capital Radio Summertime Ball, writes:
I am so inspired by everyone who runs the marathon. The dedication and passion and to all of those raising money for a charity of their choice. Absolutely incredible, I hope one day my foot lets me do it. Good luck to everyone. My thoughts and love are with you x
Jessie J Defends Tour Rider Requests
Jessie J spoke with Grazia magazine about criticism she’s received for tour rider demands, insisting that her requests didn’t include anything that was outrageous. “No champagne. No yoga mats or anything. That was meant to be one of my diva demands. I did ask for a scented candle. I don’t think it’s too much to ask for a nice, relaxing smell in the room,” the 24-year-old said. “I also asked for a lava lamp. When I was a kid, they used to have a room at Great Ormond Street Hospital where you’d go and chill out. It was full of lava lamps and water lamps and since then it’s always been a way to help me wind down. I never got one, and that’s OK. But is there anything wrong with asking for what you know is good for you? Does that make you a diva, a pain? Or does it make you someone who knows what they want?”
Despite Success, Jessie J Struggled To Make “Money Money Money”
The Sun profiled how the music career of Jessie J hasn’t meant a windfall of cash for the British pop star, despite the chart success of ‘Price Tag’ and ‘Do It Like A Dude’. Documents filed at London’s Companies House for the year ending last August show the 24-year-old had nearly £20,000 in losses. Performing smaller gigs and suffering a leg injury contributed to the shortfall, but things are looking brighter in 2012.
“But these days Jessie has deals with drink firm Vitamin Water and MasterCard, plus her fees from this year’s #1 single ‘Domino’ and her work on ‘The Voice’ have delivered serious boosts to her bank balance,” a source told the paper. Read more.
Vocal Issues Force Jessie J To Cancel Perth Concert
Jessie J checked in with her Twitter followers moments ago, apologizing for pulling out of the Future Music Festival gig at Arena Joondalup in Perth, Australia today, citing vocal issues. The British pop artist also took issue with 4Music, who Tweeted, “Does Jessie J have the Adele bug? Singer pulls out of Australia performance last minute due to illness”, and some other followers for making jokes about Adele’s vocal chord surgery that sidelined her several months. Jessie writes:
So my voice has decided to go for a walk :( MASSIVE sorry to all my fans who wanted to see me today at #futuremusicfest. X
@4Music or I was advised to not do the show due to my voice going due to tiredness\jetlag because that’s the #TRUTH
I must say I DO NOT find Adele voice jokes funny. What happened to her voice was serious and no joke. Its horrible for any singer to have vocal problems. And we should all understand how hard it was for her not by making jokes but by supporting her amazing come back.

Jessie J revealed to Chris Moyles on his Radio 1 show that she will be one of the four coaches on the new BBC program ‘The Voice’. The show will launch spring 2012 on BBC One. “It’s all about the voice. I love the idea of being a coach and a mentor and not a judge,” the 23-year-old tells Newsbeat. “I wanted to be involved.
