Katy Perry is out with the video for her new single ‘Rise’, a track the Santa Barbara, California pop singer did for NBC’s television coverage of the 2016 Summer Olympics. Perry said of the song:

I can’t think of a better example than the Olympic athletes, as they gather in Rio with their strength and fearlessness, to remind us how we ALL can come together, with the resolve to be the best we can be. I hope this song can inspire us to heal, unite, and rise together. I am honored that NBC Olympics has chosen to use (‘Rise’) as an anthem before and during the Rio Games.

Katy Perry And John Mayer Shop For Engagement Rings

Katy Perry dancing as Katy Beth Terry

Katy Perry and John Mayer are bound for marriage with the famous couple reportedly shopping for engagement rings. “They are definitely going to get engaged very soon,” someone close to Perry told Hollyscoop.

Talking about ring selection and the wedding game plan, the source added, “She wants a green diamond, since green is her favorite color. They want to have a small wedding, one of those you don’t hear about until it is all said and done. They live with each other now and are practically already husband and wife.”

As for Mayer having trouble holding a relationship with other famous female singers, Perry seems to thing this time is a charm. “Katy knows that John is her soul mate and everything she has been through has led her to him,” the source said. “John has said he will never love another woman like he loves her. She has redefined his definition of love.”

Katy Perry ‘Roar’ Video

Katy Perry 'Roar' music video

Katy Perry is out with the music video to her new single ‘Roar’, off the Santa Barbara, California pop singer’s fourth studio album ‘Prism’, out October 22nd on Capitol Records.

In response to social media buzz that Perry’s song sounds a lot like the recent Sara Bareilles single ‘Brave’, Sara told ABC News:

Katy’s a friend of mine and we’ve known each other a really long time, so she even texted me about it and we went back and forth… The shame that I feel that’s happened is that it’s become a drama. It’s putting this negative spin on two artists that are choosing to share positive messages… If I’m not mad I don’t know why anybody else is upset. I’m like, ‘Relax, let’s just celebrate that we can be out there and encouraging people to, like, feel strong and empowered.’

Sara Bareilles’ ‘Brave’ Sales Boost After Katy Perry ‘Roar’ Comparisons

Sara Bareilles 'Brave'

The Sara Bareilles single ‘Brave’ was a mover on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the week ending August 18th, going from 66 to 46 and reaching the highest position since its release in April. The sales lift seems to be linked to the release of Katy Perry’s single ‘Roar’, which sold 557,000 copies in its first week out. Several have noted that the two songs sound similar, prompting Sara to tell her Twitter followers (@SaraBareilles): “All love, everybody. All love.”
