Kylie Minogue Kicks Off Aphrodite-Les Folies 2011 Tour

Last weekend, in a small town in the middle of Denmark, Kylie Minogue presented her biggest and show ever. Over 10,000 fans gave the Australian pop singer a standing ovation at the end of the two hour Aphrodite-Les Folies show at the Multi Arena. The concert, spread over seven acts, saw Kylie performing in eight bespoke Dolce & Gabbana creations.

Fans flew in from all over the world, from as far away as Hong Kong, from Russia, from the Middle East, from Adelaide in Australia they flocked to Denmark to be present at opening night. This was just the first night of an extensive world tour that will make stops from one end of Europe to the other, to Japan, Canada, USA, Mexico, New Zealand, Australia, South East Asia and beyond, not ending until well into 2011.

Kylie Minogue Aphrodite-Les Folies Tour 2011

Kylie Minogue has announced dates for her Aphrodite-Les Folies Tour 2011, which was created by the Australian pop singer and William Baker, her long-time creative collaborator. The entire production is valued at over $25 million, and will see Kylie joined on stage by a huge cast of dancers and aerial performers along with her live band. The show will be moved throughout Europe by a crew of over 100 personnel in a fleet of 25 trucks.

“Rehearsals are well underway and the show is shaping up to be more than I could have wished for,” Kylie said. “All departments are doing a stellar job and the combined level of expertise is nothing short of mind blowing. My friends, Dolce & Gabbana have designed an amazing wardrobe for me. I’m overwhelmed with the love and talent that is going into this tour and I can’t wait for my fans to be part of it”

The Australian singer discussed her forthcoming tour, love, and about how she manages to stay so beautiful. “Well my show is big, to say the least,” Kylie explained. “It’s a huge stage, lots of highly technical, tricky business having on stage. Kylie Minogue spoke with the Spanish show ‘El Hormiguero’ about her breast cancer ordeal and being cancer free for five years. “You need to hand yourself over to not only the medical people, who do a fine job, but to all the people who want to take care of you. Sometimes you don’t want to be mollycoddled. But what I found helpful is you have to let them help you,” she said. “It’s baby, baby steps. I think it’s too simple to say ‘just stay strong’, because you can’t be strong all the time. Mostly good. Some days I don’t think about it at all and other days I’m reminded of physically what I’ve been through,” the 42-year-old explained. “Life certainly changed but one thing that I latched on to while I was going through my treatment and hoping that everything would turn out OK, was a book, the name of which I forget, but someone said ‘Life doesn’t go back to normal, it’s a new normal’, and that’s really stuck with me. No, you’re not going to be back to how you were before; you’re just not, for all sorts of reasons.
