Mat Kearney Performs On A Full Airplane

Mat Kearney recently crossed an item off his bucket list – to perform on a full airplane. On a recent Southwest Airlines flight last week, passengers were treated to an impromptu performance by the singer songwriter. Mat reflected on the performance, “I’ve always actually wanted to pick up my guitar in the middle of a flight and just walk down the aisle and play songs, but this is the first time I’ve ever actually gotten the chance to do it.” Check out the video of him performing ‘Nothing Left To Lose’ below.

Mat Kearney’s ‘Young Love’ LP Full Of Personal Stories

Mat Kearney 'Young Love'

Mat Kearney spoke with Celebuzz in a Q&A, where the singer songwriter was asked about his wife Annie Sims being the inspiration behind his current single ‘Hey Mama’, whether there’s other personal songs on his new album ‘Young Love’, musical crushes, and if family and friends are his biggest inspirations for writing.

“When I first wrote, I didn’t know how to do it any other way besides the stories that are around me,” Mat said. “[For this album] I said, ‘I’m not going to write anything that’s outside of arms reach. I’m only writing about my friends.’ So, there’s a lot of personal stories about my life and friends.”

Mat Kearney Is Always Trying To Reinvent Himself

Mat Kearney

Mat Kearney spoke with Illinois Entertainer about his third major label album ‘Young Love’, which continues the 32-year-old singer songwriter’s evolution.

“I think I’m always trying to reinvent myself a little bit,” Kearney explained. “Some people maybe would be content to make the same record over and over again and cater to just the people who bought their last record, but I’m always hungry to explore new lands while bringing your fans along with you. It’s like asking, ‘This is where I want to go, would you join me?’ I’m staying true to who I am but exploring. On this record, I drew a line in the sand and wanted to do something very clear, intense, and in your face, which I feel like I accomplished.”

‘Young Love’ is out August 2nd on Aware Records/Universal Republic.

Mat Kearney ‘Hey Mama’ Video

Oregon born and Tennessee based musician Mat Kearney just recently released a new single titled ‘Hey Mama’, from his forthcoming ‘Young Love’ album. The singer songwriter says about the album and it’s first single:

It’s been an amazing year for me personally, spiritually, and creatively. I finished my new record, “Young Love”, signed with a new record label…..oh, and met and married the woman of my dreams. We exchanged vows under a canopy of southern weeping willows on blazing June evening. It was amazing.

I wrote “Hey Mama” about that first day we met between the shoe table and the dress rack. The chorus popped into my head driving home one night. I recorded some hand claps & a big bass drum and wrote the rest dancing around my living room that night. I hope you feel some of the butterflies.
