Sarah McLachlan checked in with fans on her official web site on Sunday (May 13), wishing a Happy Mothers Day! The 44-year-old singer songwriter, who herself is a mother with two daughters (Ann Sushil Sood and Taja Summer Sood), writes:

Happy Mothers Day! Being a mother is as beautiful and rewarding as it is painful and devastating. It is the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. Here’s to being kind to ourselves and giving ourselves a hug and a pat on the back for doing the best we can in the hardest job there ever was… This morning, my daughters woke me with hot coffee and a bubble bath, then gave me beautiful hand made cards and diamond heart earrings from Claires that they bought themselves. These are sweet moments and I cherish them with all my heart…I hope all you mothers are having a wonderful day…. xoxo Sarah

Sarah McLachlan spoke with Spinner about divorcing her drummer Ashwin Sood in 2008, which is something she’s able to laugh about now. “Yeah, the marriage part didn’t quite work out,” the singer said. “Apparently that’s a bit of an epidemic, so I just make light of it.”
