Amy Macdonald Hopes To Release Second Album Early 2010

updated fans on her blog at MySpace on Friday (September 18), talking about how she keep busy over the summer with the festival season, working on a follow-up to ‘This Is The Life’, and music piracy. The Scottish singer songwriter tells readers:

As well as touring across Europe, I’ve also been very busy in the recording studio over the summer. We have a selection of songs recorded and I have to say I’m really excited. I can’t wait for all you guys to hear them and I promise it won’t be a long time. We’re hoping to release the album early next year so it’s only really a few months.

Pete has done an amazing job with the production, some of the sounds are just amazing and they are exactly how I imagined my little acoustic ditties when I handed them all over. We’ve also managed to persuade one of my favorite artists to whack some stuff down on them but you’ll have to wait and see ;-)

Amy Macdonald Gets A Miniature Schnauzer Named Arnie

updated fans on her blog at MySpace on Wednesday (May 6), talking about a new pet in the family and slowly songwriting. The Scottish singer songwriter tells readers:

I am so happy right now because we have a new addition to our little family. A little puppy called Arnie ;-) He’s a miniature schnauzer, just like wee Jackson was. Its so nice as he as alot of similar traits too. I absolutely adore him. We’ve nicknamed him chubbs as he absolutely loves his food ;-)

My mum, dad and sister got one too. They have Arnie’s little brother. They are so cute together and just run about like nutters. Our other dog, harry, is still a wee bit wary of them but he’s been amazing. Been giving him lots of love so he doesn’t feel neglected.

I’m already so attached to him, don’t like leaving him in a room when i’m not there. He’s sleeping beside me on the couch right now.

Amy Macdonald Unfollows Ashton Kutcher & Demi Moore

checked in with fans on her blog at MySpace on Thursday (April 2), talking about buying a pressure washer, washing people ice skate, and not understanding the Twitter popularity of Ashton Kutcher and his wife Demi Moore, even after Kutcher was the first to cross the 1 million followers mark on Thursday night. The Scottish singer songwriter tells readers:

It’s so funny how quickly I settle back into normal life. It’s weird that one minute I’m galavanting around the world and the next minute I fill my days watching people ice skate! However boring my account of today seems, I can assure you I had a very nice time.

I’ve started using the site Twitter, and after a few hours of adding Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore, I had to delete them. They post annoying crap every 2 seconds. Do they actually have nothing to do? They make my life of pressure washers seem interesting!!

Amy Macdonald: Simon Cowell Has No Interest In Music, His Interest Is Money

checked in with fans on her blog at MySpace on Saturday (March 21), talking about touring in support of her debut album ‘This Is the Life’ is wrapping up and she’s now set to begin work on a second album. She also sounded off on reality singing competitions, blasting ‘American Idol’ and ‘X Factor’ judge Simon Cowell. The Scottish singer songwriter tells readers:

Everyone at my label [Vertigo Records] is great and I understand how lucky I am to have complete creative control with such a huge company.

There’s obviously been stories in the press recently about people that don’t have that control and it makes me realize what a horrible business this can be. I find it truly shocking that a young boy can have all his dreams come true and then have them taken away so quickly. I hate everything that these reality programs stand for and I find them completely cruel and humiliating.
Simon Cowell has no interest in music, his interest is money.
Obviously there are alot of talented people that come from these shows and I’m not disputing that. I just wish there was a better way for them to get noticed. I don’t see what’s entertaining about a middle aged man upsetting some young girl or boy with scathing remarks about their singing.

I’m sorry about my ranting I just get so annoyed by certain things and I just can’t help it!

Amy Macdonald Gets A Personal Invitation To Meet With U2

updated fans on her blog at MySpace on Wednesday (February 25), talking about her recent appearance at the Echo Awards in Germany, where she got the chance to meet with Lionel Richie and U2. The Scottish singer songwriter tells readers:

So once I was finished with the red carpet I went inside the arena. Tina, who works for my German label, told me she had something for me. It was a piece of cardboard with a note saying ‘Amy come and say hello to your fan club’ signed Bono, The Edge, Larry and Adam. I couldn’t believe it. I was completely shell shocked! U2 wanted to meet me!!! Pete(my manager) and I basically stood in silence for about 10 minutes, not knowing what to say.

We went to the side of the stage to watch U2 perform. They were amazing. About 5 minutes later their PA came to find us and said that the note was an invitation and we should come and say hello. We were frantically trying to get Sarah to come down as she was the only one with a camera, she was running all over trying to find us and luckily she got there in time.

We went into their dressing room and I was so nervous. I couldn’t quite believe it. We all said hello and I was just so shocked that U2 actually knew who I was. Larry seemed to know the most and was talking to me about my videos and said that he thought it was brilliant that I was doing my own thing and wasn’t like any of the other female artists that are around just now. He said he thought it was wonderful that I was so unique. I’m still in total shock. Pete explained to Bono how we all met and how everything had started. We were in there for about 30mins just talking and drinking. All of the guys were so nice, and so down to earth. They were all joking and taking the piss out of each other :-) We talked about The Killers and the Kings of Leon, 2 of my favorite bands who have both toured with U2. I was gutted I had to leave, but I was due on stage very soon. I asked if we could get a quick picture and it turned out so well, which I was happy about.

Amy Macdonald & Steve Lovell’s Upmarket Valentine’s Dinner

updated fans on her blog at MySpace on Tuesday (February 17), talking about how she and fiance Steve Lovell enjoyed Valentine’s Day. The Scottish singer songwriter tells readers:

I’m writing this from my bed :-) I’m not long up. I didn’t get home until 130am last night as Stevie and I had been in London. We had such a great weekend.

Stevie took me for an amazing Valentine’s dinner at Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant in Claridges. It was gorgeous. I never really go to upmarket places as I get really embarrased. I don’t know why, I’m a bit silly. Our night was brilliant, we were also staying in Mayfair and enjoyed wandering about looking at all the amazing cars. Bentleys are quite common round there ;-)

Amy Macdonald Overruled Editing Her Own Wikipedia Page

checked in with fans on her blog at MySpace on Saturday (February 7), discussing her failed effort to make edits to her Wikipedia entry. The Scottish singer/songwriter tells readers:

So, I get sent emails giving me updates on every chart postion and album sales throughout the world.

I look on something like Wikipedia, and see that there are so many mistakes on there. Now it’s quite special to me getting a number 1 single and album and some chart positions that people have entered on Wikipedia take my number 1′s away from me.

So I decided I would correct the page and enter the right positions. It helps me for the information on there to be correct as alot of people who interview me use this site as their reference.

However every time I try to change anything, it get’s changed back by people who then get so annoyed at me and tell me I’m wrong.

I know this is such a random blog but I find it hilarious. I was actually sitting laughing to myself when I got a message telling me I was wrong and with no references I had no right to change any information.

Surely I am reference enough hahahaha

Anyway I’ve tried and failed to put the right information on this website, so take anything on it with a huuuuuge pinch of salt :-)

Amy Macdonald Reacts To Echo Awards Nomination

checked in with fans on her blog at MySpace on Sunday (January 25), feeling good after being nominated for the German Echo awards, where the Scottish singer songwriter has also been asked to perform. The 21-year-old tells readers:

Amazing news.

I have been nominated as best international female at the German Echo awards! This is such great news for me. It’s such a massive awards show and it really means alot to finally be recognized for my music.

I always say the best reward for me is having great fans and I totally stand by that but it does feel nice to be recognized. I’ve been left out of awards shows for so long and this makes it even more special.

However this is not the best news. The best news is that not only have I been nominated but I have been asked to perform as well. This is incredibly exciting as the other performers are U2!!! I cannot believe that I will be performing on the same stage as U2! This is such a huge honor and I can’t wait!!!

Cross your fingers for me.

Amy Macdonald Is Loving Coldplay’s New Single

checked in with fans on her blog at MySpace on Wednesday (January 21), offering supporting words for one of her musical peers. The Scottish singer songwriter tells readers:

I’ve just been watching ‘Big Chef Takes on Little Chef’ on channel 4 and towards the end they played my favorite Coldplay song from their current album.

The song is called ‘Life in Technicolor’ and the minute I heard it I fell in love. The only thing that dissapointed was that I was dying for Chris Martin to sing over it as it was an instrumental. I’ve found myself listening to it and making up lyrics to it and thinking should I write my own song over the music.

Now I have found there is no need as Coldplay have released ‘Life in Technicolor 2′ and I love it. I love Chris Martin’s voice and I love the music. I was so inspired that I had to come here and write about it.

I hate when people criticize them because they are so talented.

Goodnight.
