The Sun reports Girls Aloud have signed on to host a Christmas special for ITV, where the girl group will do comedy skips, interview celebrity friends, perform some of their hits, and premiere their Christmas single. “They want people to see another side of them which is why they’ve agreed to do the show,” a source told the British tabloid. “They’re more ambitions than just singing and this is a great showcase for them. Sarah in particular wants to be an actress.” Read more.

Side Projects Are The Key To Girls Aloud’s Longevity

Nadine Coyle chatted with The Sun about the constant speculation surrounding the future of Girls Aloud, suggesting the pop group has stayed together so long thanks to having side projects. “I like to have loads of things going on at the same time,” the 23-year-old said. “We can do whatever we want as well as being in Girls Aloud. We can always come back to the band.”

But Coyle wouldn’t promise Girls Aloud would record a follow-up to their just released fifth album ‘Out of Control’. “I would say there will probably be another album,” she said.

Cheryl Cole Squashes Plan To Make Peace With Charlotte Church After Diss

Cheryl Cole had planned to bury the hatchet with Charlotte Church in Girls Aloud’s new book ‘Dreams That Glitter’, but Charlotte recently called the girl group “five dogs without balls” and said “Cheryl’s proved she’s got no backbone” as a judge on ‘The X Factor’, prompting Cheryl to change her mind. “Cheryl decided she’s had it with the feud. She wrote a sincere passage in the book about how much she regretted it and how much she enjoys Charlotte’s show,” a source told The Sun. “She thought it time to grow up and draw a line under it. But there’s only so far you can push her. Charlotte made some entirely unprovoked attacks and that changed Cheryl’s mind on the matter. After hearing them she was straight on to the publishers to tell them to remove the passage. They weren’t best pleased to be tinkering with it at this late stage but said they would do their best.” Read more.

Girls Aloud Have No Plans To Add Sixth Member

The following message was posted at Girls Aloud’s blog at MySpace on Monday (August 25) in response to a report in The Mirror the group were signing on for a reality show to find a sixth member:

Over the weekend the papers have been filled with false stories on the girls. But instead of the tired old ‘split’ stories, they have invented rumors of a brand new Girls Aloud reality show.

These reports could not be more wrong and the Girls are far too busy putting the finishing touches to their brand new album to be filming a new show, let alone bringing on board a new member.

The papers often get things wrong but this one should win some kind of award!

The Girls’ album will be out later this year and www.girlsaloud.co.uk will be the only place for all your official news.

Girls Aloud To Release Fifth Album In November

The Sun has learned Girls Aloud are set to release a follow-up to last year’s ‘Tangled Up’ album. The British girl group will release the lead single in October, with their fifth album to follow in November. “The girls are really excited about this one. They think it’s their best album yet,” a source tells Gordon Smith. “The last was their most successful so far and that has given them the drive to keep going. They have spent more time recording this one than they have in the past because they want to get it right.”

Fan Fic Writer Arrested In Britain For Gruesome Girls Aloud Tale

The People reports 34-year-old internet fan fic writer in Tyneside, England was tracked down by detectives from Britain and Interpol for writing a story about kidnapping, raping and butchering Girls Aloud, then selling the girl group’s mutilated bodies on eBay. “Yes, I did write the stuff about Girls Aloud and I’m sorry if I caused offense or worry - it wasn’t what I intended,” said the man, who still lives with his parents. “What I wrote was just a fantasy thing. It was harmless.”

Asked why he wrote the fantasy tale about the ‘Popstars: The Rivals’ singers, he said, “I’m not a fan of theirs at all so there’s no real reason I picked them - I just did. I’ve written other articles along the same lines which are not about Girls Aloud or celebrities and which I’ve not been charged over. But I’m not prepared to go into why I write them.” Read more.

Sarah Harding Ponders Becoming A Lesbian After Tom Crane Split

After splitting up with her DJ boyfriend Tom Crane, Girls Aloud star Sarah Harding tells The Evening Standard’s London Lite she’s fed up with men, and joked about switching teams. “I don’t really want to talk about men at the moment,” Harding said at the O2 Wireless Festival in Hyde Park. “I’m really fed up with all of them. I think I might become a lesbian.”

As for the continuous talk the British girl group will call it a day, the 26-year-old blonde insisted that’s not happening anytime soon. “I’m really excited about the new album,” she said. “We’re going to start recording it next week. We’re writing songs at the moment.”
