Fellow Artists React To Christina Aguilera National Anthem Flub

Christina Aguilera album

Fellow artists reacted to Christina Aguilera messing up the lyrics to the National Anthem before Sunday’s Super Bowl, with several showing support for the 5-time Grammy Award winner. Among ‘The Star Spangled Banner’ related Twitter messages:

Brian Littrell (@brian_littrell): What a shame to sing the wrong words for our very own National Anthem. BSB can remember the words. Chirp chirp

Jordin Sparks (@TheRealJordin): The test of a true artist is continuing even when things go a little left & not letting people know it did during the performance. #ilovextina

Toni Braxton (@tonibraxton): I’ve sung the National Anthem Acapella on more than one occasion and it’s NOT an easy song. Everyone awaits that last note. It’s very important.

Natasha Bedingfield (@natashabdnfield): She did great! She sung her heart out. Didn’t you see one of the players was so moved he was crying?! I’d like to see you try and do that!

Josh Hoge (@JoshHoge): Fu** you Christina!!!!!!!!!! You forgot the words to the National Anthem? You’re an idiot. What’s next Fergie pees herself…AGAIN??? Horsesh**.

Melody Thornton (@MelodyThornton): Christina Aguilera should not be down on herself over the #superbowl mishap. She kept going like a pro

Rob Thomas (@ThisIsRobThomas): Christina Aguilera can sing her ass off… ok. Christina was forgetting the words as I typed. But she sounded great fu**ing up.

Travis Garland (@TravisGarland): Did Christina just take “artistic liberties” with the National Anthem? Star Spangled Banner: The Remix by Christina Aguilera. (lyrics sold separately)

Benji Madden (@benjaminmadden): I think Christina did a great job on the national anthem. I would have messed up a word or 2 if I was in front of 111 mil people too! Nerve racking!

Josh Hoge 40 Days Sober After Seeking Alcohol Addiction Treatment

Josh Hoge checked in with fans on his blog at MySpace (@joshhoge) on Tuesday (August 10), discussing work on his new album, trying to line up some tour dates, and a revelation that he had been getting treatment for alcoholism last month and has been 40 days sober. The singer songwriter tells readers:

I rarely go into much detail about things that go on with myself or my family personally, but after giving it some (a lot) of thought, I wanted to share…

As most of you know (and have probably witnessed) I enjoy the alcohol. It was something that started as a social thing for me, but as the years went on I realized I was REALLY social I guess. Point being, over the last year of my life I began to struggle with an alcohol addiction. It grew and grew through the beginning of this year, and I was beginning to lose myself in it (amongst many other things). On July 2nd I had a long talk with my family, and I decided the problem was bigger than me and I wanted to get some help. So I spent most of July in a treatment facility getting myself back in order. It’s the best decision I have ever made! As I type this today, it is my 40th day sober, and I feel better than I have in a LONG time. I have a new appreciation honestly for everything, especially music. I’m hoping with this new record, tours, etc to be better than I have ever been!!!

Josh Hoge Works With Geico To Prevent Distracted Driving

Josh Hoge checked in with his MySpace (@joshhoge) fans on Friday (April 9), talking about how he’s teaming up with Geico on a campaign to discourage distracted driving. Hoge writes:

Some may know this, but if not, a while back I partnered up with Geico (yes the insurance company & no I haven’t met the cavemen yet) to work with them on a new campaign they are starting. Its geared towards “teen driving”, and basically deals with all the things that come along with being safe & responsible on the roads etc. The amount of deaths and accidents caused these days by distracted driving (cell phones, iPods, texting, etc) is as high as ever. I in the last year or 2 have banned myself from these things while driving, and this is coming from someone that doesn’t fly so I drive 100’s of thousands of miles each year on tour. So Geico asked me to write and record a song for their campaign starting up. I wrote and recorded the song “Drive On” one afternoon in Nashville. It basically just sends the message to stay focused on what life has in store for us in general and down the road (and of course for young teens just starting to drive). Its posted on my music player on the main page so check it out, and also a quick little video we shot when I was in DC a few months back. There will be lots of things coming in the future with sites such as www.geicoteendriving.com (to name a few) & also a way to download this song for free so if you like it stay tuned. Hopefully this whole thing will catch on and even become big enough to be a national ad campaign through television and everywhere to make people more aware…

Thanks for the support and I look forward to seeing you guys on the road this summer.

Peace & Love,
JHOGE

Josh Hoge Getting Prepared To Record Christmas Album

Josh Hoge checked in with fans on his blog at MySpace (@joshhoge) on Friday (May 29), talking about his brother Will working on a new album, his plans to hit the studio soon to record a Christmas album, joining Twitter, and being excited to head back out on the road. The singer songwriter tells readers:

Its been a minute since I’ve checked in with y’all. Wanted to pop in and give you another little update. I’ve been spending a lot of downtime at home with friends and family. Watching a lot of NBA playoff action for sure. I do have to admit, I’m totally on the Cleveland Cavaliers/Lebron James bandwagon (although it may be too late). Anywho, I got to spend a little time over at the studio with my brother and his band while they recorded their new album. Sounding really cool. His voice seems to be getting stronger every day. Excited for the release date they have in September. I’ve been writing some original holiday songs and listening to a lot of other Christmas music trying to get it all together for August (when I am going to record the Christmas album). I have always wanted to do this, and I really think you all may just enjoy it. :)

Josh Hoge Home For A Bit After Lengthy Tour

Josh Hoge updated fans on his blog at MySpace (@joshhoge) on Friday (May 8) after wrapping up nearly seven months on the road. The singer songwriter tells readers:

I’m home for a little while (actually headed on a much needed vacation this week) then I’m around the homestead until the summer tour starts June 18. The dates are shaping up, and hopefully we will have another 6-7 still added. Other than that, I am writing my butt off in late May-mid June. I have a lot of ideas running thru this brain (see it does work sometimes) that I’m hoping to share with you really soon!

It’s official that Tony Lucca and myself are going to be doing a sort of an “exclusive” holiday tour. I know it’s super early but I am really excited about this! 1. I love Tony 2. The concept I think is super fun. See we are only going to be doing like 15-20 shows in select markets as sort of a “one night only”. We will each play a set (sharing a broken down intimate band) and then end the night together playing a 30 min set singing each others songs, our favorite covers etc! When these dates are finally posted, you will not want to miss this! :)
