I can’t really be sure as to the sound of this album as the producer element is the last thing chosen, but I can say I am about half way through writing and I am genuinely happy with what I’m up to. This album has got to be fabulous so I’m really trying to be patient and do the best stuff ever. I hope you’ll think it’s worth the wait! In general the songs are a mix of the last two albums plus something new influenced by what else is in my life and what I’ve been listening to. Sorry to be so vague, but it’s always tricky to articulate sound. Anyhow, not too long before you’ll be able to judge for yourself… next year for sure. Happy fireworks, Sx.”

Sophie Ellis Bextor Checks In With Fans After Childbirth

Sophie Ellis Bextor posted a message to her fans on her official forum’s message board Friday (April 30) concerning the recent birth of her son, which was complicated by the life-threatening condition pre-eclampsia. She writes:

Hello everyone. Thank you for all your messages of congratulations. My little man, Sonny, is well worth it. I am now back home after staying in hospital for about 10 days. It’s been quite a ride. I went Monday morning nearly two weeks ago for a check up as my blood pressure had been rising and they wanted to see if it had steadied. I was sure I was well - had just dashed out the house and had work on in the afternoon - but unfortunately my symptoms had worsened. I moved hospital as the one I was at didn’t have a special baby care unit. As I got worse quite rapidly the doctor decided to deliver my baby early to save my health. Sonny was born one week ago and has been doing brilliantly. I’m sure he’ll be home really soon.
At the moment it’s a bit early to tell, but I think he looks like [the boy’s father] Richard [Jones].
Either way, he’s very beautiful in his own right.
I’m now feeling pretty much back to normal and can’t wait to have my baby here with us - all very exciting.

Sophie Ellis Bextor’s Smashing Pregnancy

March 27, 2004 - Sophie tells The Daily Star she’s had an unusual reaction to her pregnancy, and it has nothing to do with food cravings. “I’m very happy but I’m having a very strange pregnancy,” she admitted. “I haven’t had any of the normal food cravings that most people get like doughnuts with gravy, but I’ve got a craving for smashed glass. It’s bizarre but whenever I see something made of glass I get the overwhelming urge to smash it.”

Sorry to put a damper on things, but there’s no truth in that article whatsoever. My pregnancy is far from hellish and I don’t live near a Spar. I have no set plans for a single or a tour. I am starting some European promotion for ‘I Won’t Change You’ and possibly releasing something else, but more likely I will start to write my third album. I really don’t know how these papers can get away with writing totally made up quotes. Oh well.

Victoria Beckham Double A-Side Debuts At #3 In UK Singles Chart

Victoria Beckham 'Let Your Head Go' / 'This Groove'

Victoria Beckham will have to wait for her first number one after her latest effort only managed to debut at number three in the singles chart. The former Spice Girl’s double A-side, ‘This Groove’/’Let Your Head Go’ did beat the woman who previously nixed her hopes to top the UK singles chart - Sophie Ellis Bextor. Posh did have the highest debut single, only losing out to Gary Jules, who held on to the top spot for the third week with ‘Mad World’, and Ozzy and Kelly Osbourne, who got the #2 slot with ‘Changes’.

News of the World reports former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham and her husband David are first and second in 2003’s cult BBC Celebdaq chart of stardom which records how much newspaper space in square centimeters that celebrities have written about them in a year in the UK. Meanwhile, Michael Jackson landed at the #5 spot, Britney Spears at #6, and Kylie Minogue at #7.

Posh Says No To Resolutions

Victoria Beckham is not making any New Year resolutions - not even to have a number one hit. The former Spice Girl told GMTV on Wednesday morning she usually makes promises, but “by New Year’s Day they’ve all gone out of the window.” She added, “I’m not going to have any. That’s really boring.”

Posh To Top Sophie, But Not Overall In UK Singles Chart

Retailers told The Evening Standard that although former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham’s double A-side ‘Let Your Head Go’ and ‘This Groove’ is selling well, it is unlikely to be in first place when the next charts come out on Sunday. On the bright side, Posh looks poised to top Sophie Ellis Bextor, who spoiled her chart topping hopes two years ago when her last single was released.

The Downside Of Being Posh

Damaging stories about former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham’s career and marriage to David have taken a toll on the singer. “I’m an easy target, aren’t I,” Posh asked in an interview with The Mirror. “I’m used to it. What can I say? There’s nothing you could dislike about David, but there’s a different thing with me.” But she is upset to learn a close friend has spread divorce rumors. She said: “Why would she say that? It couldn’t have been her. You must have got that wrong.” Victoria has taken plenty of flak over her attempts to revive her career. But while she is happy to writhe on a bed for her new video, she does have limits. She said: “I didn’t want to leap around like Britney Spears.”

Sophie Ellis Bextor Not Afraid Of Celebrity

December 19, 2003 - Cocky, confident Sophie is not afraid of mention the ‘C-word’. “Nowadays, because there is such an obsession with ‘celebrity’, some people, musicians, think it’s kind of a bit ugly to say that you’re interested in any aspect of celebrity,” she tells Living Abroad Magazine. “But I think the moment you do interviews or do photos or appear in your own videos, you’re courting it to a certain extent. So I think it’s better to embrace it rather than dismiss it. I’m really not someone that is particularly interested in fame. It’s funny, when I was about 15 I remember thinking that it might be a good idea, but my mum (Janet Ellis) said ‘no, as you get older your perspective changes’. And she was so right, you do, you get older and you’re just not that fussed. Now I shy away from it. I don’t really go to any sort of parties and film premieres. I dabbled in it for a while, right at the beginning.”

Scare For Sophie Ellis Bextor

December 15, 2003 - The Sun reports Sophie had a fright when a dancer nearly dropped her. “Given that I’m expecting, I didn’t like that very much,” she said. “I had to give them a good ticking off. But I refrained from hurting their egos too badly.”

December 13, 2003 - The Mirror reports Sophie says that even on the first few dates with boyfriend Andy Boyd, they were seriously discussing a future together. She says: “We talked about starting a family because we just knew it was right. If the baby hadn’t been planned we would have taken precautions. What caught us out was how quickly it happened. I’ve always wanted to be a mum, but I’ve got friends who have struggled to conceive. So I thought it might take a year or so for anything to happen. This sounds like a cliche but every baby is a little bit of a miracle. Ours has just come along quicker than expected.”

So will the couple get married before she gives birth? “I haven’t ruled out marriage, but at the moment I’m just happy to enjoy the pregnancy,” Sophie said.

Sophie Ellis Bextor Getting Special Treatment While Pregnant

December 6, 2003 - Sophie tells The Glasgow Daily Record she finds it amusing that people have been treating her with kid gloves ever since she broke the news she was pregnant with boyfriend Richard Jones. “I just keep saying to people that I’m not ill. I’m only pregnant,” she remarked.

The baby is due in June and Sophie is determined it will be a natural birth. She has booked herself into a private hospital for her pre-natal care. “Hopefully my labor will be as short as possible,” she said. “The hospital I have booked in with doesn’t believe in gas or air nothing at all. I would love to have a water birth with candles and music.”
