Demi Lovato Can’t Stand Guys Who Cry

Demi Lovato, seen here blonde with bangs, talks with Z100 about how she can't stand guys who cry, X Factor, Britney Spears and her hit single 'Give Your Heart A Break'

Demi Lovato was recently on the phone with JJ of Z100 in New York City to talk about her hit song ‘Give Your Heart A Break’, how she judges on ‘The X Factor’, how her friendship with Britney Spears is developing, not wanting to devote herself to a relationship at the moment, and how she can’t stand men who cry.

Asked about her supposed role of “the enforcer” on ‘X Factor’, she said, “I am just really honest. I think we’re all really tough judges. I don’t think there’s one judge that goes easier on anybody else. We’re all pretty tough.”
Asked if she ever looks over and thinks, “Oh my god, it’s Britney Spears”, Demi confessed, “I still do that. What are you talking about?” As for whether she’s close to Spears, Lovato said, “We haven’t hung out or anything because I’ve been on the road and she’s busy too, but if we both had free time, I know we’d both love to hang out and just get to know each other better. She’s a really, really sweet girl.”

On the success of ‘Give Your Heart A Break’, she said, “I’m really thankful for it. I like how it’s happened, but really any song that does well I’m thankful for it too.”

As for dating talk, Demi said, “I’m not at a place right now where I can devote my time or devote my heart, because right now I’m devoting it to my music and my work. There’s a time for a relationship in your life, but I don’t know if 20-years-old is a time to be in a relationship, but it it happens, it happens.”

As for her pet peeves with men, Demi revealed, “I can’t stand it when guys cry. It’s like, grow some balls and stop crying. If they cry over something super super romantic or whatever, that’s totally okay, but if you’re crying because stupid reasons that girls cry over, I’m like, ‘If I’m not crying over that, you shouldn’t either.'”

Demi Lovato On Dip Dye, Niall Horan & Busy Schedule

Demi Lovato relaxes in-flight

Demi Lovato was on the phone with Jeff Hurley of B104 in Whitehall, Pennsylvania the other day. The actress and singer talked about balancing her busy schedule, coloring her hair, what’s up with her and Niall Horan of One Direction, how she learns about gossip involving her, her biggest career milestone and what she does in her spare time.

On balancing touring, ‘X Factor’:

You know what, I don’t know. I really don’t know how I’m balancing it. I’m just taking it one day at a time, and I feel like I can do anything for one day. When I get through the day, it’s a whole new day the next day. So I don’t really look at it as oh my gosh, I have so much to do this summer, which is the way that I used to look at things. Now I look at it as okay, today I’m in California, tomorrow I’m in a different country, whatever, but I can handle it.

On coloring her hair:

I’ve been obsessed with the dip dye coloring thing. It’s like a new trend I guess. I saw it and I was like man, I really want to do that. I hope I can do that. So one day I just did it.

On if she’s aware of a guy named Niall Horan of One Direction:

Niall is a friend of mine. I do know who he is and everyone knows who One Direction is. We’re just friends and he’s awesome and he’s cool.

On how she learns about rumors about herself:

Sometimes it’s like I see it myself, like if I go online or something. I never go online really. So I always hear about it through my managers or my parents will be like, hey, are you dating somebody? I’m like no, what are you talking about?

Demi Lovato Knew All Along She Was Being Punk’d

Demi Lovato shows off her Topshop outfit

Demi Lovato sat down with Chris K of The End 107.9 backstage at Endfest 2012 to talk music, her role as a ‘X Factor’ judge, hosting the Teen Choice Awards and knowing all along that she was being a ‘Punk’d’ victim.

On hosting the TCA’s:

I’m a little nervous because I have only a couple of hours to practice the whole thing, and I’ve never really hosted much. I hosted something for MTV, the New Year’s Eve bash, so I don’t have much experience but I think I’m gonna have a lot of fun.

On new music:

I’m actually not working on anything at the moment. Of course anytime I get the inspiration to write a song I will, but there’s nothing at the moment ready for the fourth album.

On her evolving hair style and color:

I dyed my hair pink, the ends of it pink, like a month or two ago. Then I was like, I need a change, I need something (different), so I was like how about blue and green?

If she was upset to be Punk’d:

I wasn’t upset.. I actually… should I? I knew the whole time. But I felt so bad that they had went through so much, I was like, okay, I’ll just go with it. They didn’t tell me. A bunch of people were like, hey, there’s gonna be a camera crew, but they want to hang out with you. I was like that’s shady, what? Then my friend talked to them and was like, oh, but I can’t tell Demi. She’s like, no it’s cool. Then my mom I guess found out through my manager, and she was like, hey, I just want to let you know, before you go and hang out with your friends tonight, you’re gonna be Punk’d so make sure that your hair and makeup is done. I was like, great! Thanks!

On the surprise being spoiled:

I want that to happen. I’m really into practical jokes and stuff like that, so I want to get re-Punk’d. For awhile there I went with it. People at MTV were like, did you know? I was like no way. I think it’s been long enough for me to say absolutely, I knew the entire time.

On her fellow ‘X Factor’ judges Britney Spears, Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid:

It’s awesome. Britney is amazing. She’s such a icon, and she’s really humble and sweet to work with. She’s awesome and Simon is really funny and we have so much fun together, and L.A. is awesome. Everyone is great.

Demi Lovato at a soundcheck

Demi Lovato featured in our hangman style game, where players attempt to select letters and guess the lyrics to one of the former ‘Sonny with a Chance’ star’s songs. The lyrics from the selected tracks come from Demi’s 2011 album ‘Unbroken’, released last September. Demi said about her third studio album:

With my new album, I’m hoping to provide inspiration for girls everywhere who are going through the same issues I’ve faced. I think this will come through in a lot of the material. My first single is really special to me - to me it symbolizes my journey from the person I was to the happy healthy person I am today, and the fact that people are able to rise above anything, despite the odds.
