Ferras boombox

Ferras updated fans on his blog at MySpace (@ferrasmusic) on Friday (January 30), discussing his game plan on a follow-up to his 2008 debut album ‘Aliens & Rainbows’. The Los Angeles based singer songwriter tells readers:

It’s a new year, a new horizon. I’ve been writing as I have been for the last couple months coming up with what I feel is the next step musically for me. I’ve gone through different styles - everything from experimenting with beats to just basic ballads to dance songs. I’m finding myself musically and I thank you guys so much for your patience and for continuing to support me and listen to ALIENS & RAINBOWS!! I promise you, the next record and the next incarnation will not disappoint. I don’t wanna rush something out there that’s not completely what I believe to be a complete representation of my thoughts feelings and artistry of that time. So, during this time (which may seem boring to y’all haha) I thank you for your messages of encouragement, your comments - everything you guys do on here just picks me up and drives me even harder to dig deep and make music that you guys will continue enjoy and live through and identify with…. If my heart belongs to anyone, it’s to you all.

Ferras’ Next Album Will Explore Just Having Fun

Ferras doorway

Ferras updated fans on his blog at MySpace (@ferrasmusic) on Saturday (November 29), talking about Thanksgiving, self-help books, and progress on his ‘Aliens & Rainbows’ follow-up. The Los Angeles based pop singer tells readers:

Well. I’ve been SUPER busy in the studio the last month. Just to clarify, I’m not recording an album right now. I’ve actually been hooking up with different producers, writers etc just getting a creative flow going. Trying to figure out the next step for me. I wanna do something different for my next record. My first record was a product of years of self-analyzation- pain- longing- love etc. It was a very deep, get to the personal side of Ferras. I was in that space and it was really like almost like a biography of emotions wrapped into one record. Right now, as I am creating, I have different feelings, different thoughts, and different experiences. I’m in a whole new spot. I’ve been going out, living life and experiencing the not so serious side. I think that my next record will explore just having fun. Dancing. Not taking sh** too serious. Of course there will be love songs (as im always either falling for someone obsessively or failing miserably in a relationship) lol and it will always be lighter and something different. Right now, I’m exploring in the studio. I’ve been working with some great producers and writers and things are falling into place. Once I feel like I’ve nailed the direction for my next incarnation :) then he next phase happens. I hope that whatever direction musically my next record takes that you all will still be here to support and love me. I know that I’m really excited about some of the new stuff and I CANT, I REPEAT, CAN’T wait to share it with all of you. :) Damn soon kidz

Katy Perry & Ferris Interviewed At SXSW

Crackle just posted an interview they did earlier this year at SXSW in Austin, Texas with Katy Perry and her buddy/labelmate Ferras on their YouTube channel.

Katy talked about being “somewhere in between” hipster cool and pop star lame and her love for music festivals, while Ferras said he was honored to have his song featured as the ‘American Idol’ sendoff, rejecting the idea that he lost any street cred in the process - since he’s a pop singer in the first place.

“I love music festivals,” Perry said. “I love Coachella and Warped Tour when I was younger I used to go, so anything that has to do with music, I’m always there. I like the grunge and hopping around from bar to bar and seeing all the new bands and all the bands you read about coming from the UK and all over the world.”

Ferras Working On A Whole New Batch Of Songs

Ferras updated fans on his blog at MySpace (@ferrasmusic) on Sunday (September 28), talking about the origin behind his song ‘Marshmallow Spaceship’ and what’s been keeping him away lately. The Los Angeles based pop singer writes:

If you wanna know why I’ve been sorta mia -

I’ve been writing writing writing… Holed up in my house - between appearance here and show there.

I’m working on a whole new batch of songs. Doing a lot of self-discovery and analyzing my life, the world I live in, the people I love (and who either love or don’t love me back), the experiences I’ve had thus far - hope, disillusionment, longing, pain. These are prevalent themes.

Who knows where I’ll be emotionally when it’s time to present another record -

but right now, I’m just existing and writing. And writing and existing.

Ferras Begins Writing Second Album

Ferras checked in with fans on his blog at MySpace (@ferrasmusic) on Tuesday (September 9), where the Los Angeles based singer songwriter talked about beginning work on a follow-up to his April debut album ‘Aliens & Rainbows’. Ferras writes:

Here’s been a lot of changes at my label Capitol Records. There’s a whole new team of people that just came in and they are really amazing. I’m not sure how much detail I can go into right now without getting in trouble but let’s just say that I’m very excited and sorry I’ve been MIA. Since there were so many different changes going on at my label over the past few months, we’ve been going back and forth which single to go to radio with - what’s the next step for Mr. Ferras lol. And right now, I’m in writing mode. Discovery process. Who am I where do I wanna go and what do I have to say. ‘Aliens and Rainbows’ was/is a glimpse into my soul. I think perhaps it might have been a better second record because getting so deep initially is sometimes hard for peeps to understand. That’s just where I was at in my life and at that time. I’m very proud of it and it will always be my baby. My first record. I wish I had more news ie some huge tour or some other big thing to tell you guys but I don’t. Right now I’m waiting for word from the big dawgs to tell me what’s next for me! I’m excited though because I feel like I need a minute to just run away and really create. Create something that’s new. I love recording and writing and the whole studio process so we’ll see. I promise you guys, I’ll never let you down. I’ll never go away and I’ll always make music with or without anyone else’s help. It’s my heartbeat and my breath of life and even if I end up on some desert island poor and lonely, I’ll have my laptop and garage band and I’ll update my demos on MySpace so you guys can have access to me and to my soul. I always have been and will continue to be honest with you guys and will never disappear. Don’t think because you haven’t heard from me I’ve abandoned you guys. Sometimes, it’s just easier to wait to tell you guys stuff rather than get yo3u excited and have things fall through. Anyway. Nuff bout all this. I’m not going nowhere. I’m not stopping. Truth and love prevails and I operate with that philosophy. Stay tuned you guys and please be patient and I know I love you so much and we are in it 2gether. My next record is on horizon and its gonna be sick. I know it. Patience is something I strive for everyday.

Ferras Congratulates Pal Katy Perry

Ferras checked in with fans on his blog at MySpace (@ferrasmusic), where the Los Angeles based pop singer commented on the sudden success enjoyed by his buddy Katy Perry. “I also wanna take this time to congratulate my dear cholita friend Katy Perry on all of her success,” Ferras writes. “The moment I met Katy, I knew she was destined to shine brighter than any star. When I first met Katy, one night she came over to my house and brought her guitar. We ate garlic pistachios (well, Katy ate the whole bag) from the Farmers Market in Santa Barbara and played music. She said, I just wrote this song, ‘Ur So Gay’, here it is. And I was blown away. Love my little Katy. And my bff I share with ms kitty Mr. Markus Molinari (check out his blog www.markusisthedrug.com for all your latest celeb goss) I miss so much. He’s been out on Warped Tour with Katy. We’re partners in crime here in Hollywood and its just not the same without em here. If you haven’t seen the video of him and Katy breaking into my house and stealing my Gucci shoes, YouTube it. Those two. Sheesh. lol”

Ferras Gives ‘Wanted’ And Angelina Jolie A Thumbs Up

Ferras checked in with fans on his blog at MySpace (@ferrasmusic) on Thursday (July 10) after viewing the new film ‘Wanted’ at Arclight Cinemas in Hollywood. “Angelina Jolie is SMOKIN HOT!! I mean wow,” he writes. “The last time I remember picking my jaw off the floor like this was when Madonna had on that see thru black lace shirt in her ‘Vogue’ video back in the 80’s. I remember being a little boy and just watching her and literally not being able to tear my eyes off the screen even if someone was waving a Happy Meal in front of me. I felt like that tonight. Angie is not only (outwardly) beautiful but commands attention with her eyes, the way she moves, the way she talks - everything about her is CAPTIVATING!!!! AHHHHHH. The movie is good too. Ish. It’s worth seeing. The lead guy was good too actually. Anyway back to Angie. It might be totally tacky and slightly fan obsessed, but I am considering a tattoo. Wow, okay. Now I feel weird. Scratch that. Maybe just ‘Angelina’. Less creepy than a pic of her face on my arm right? hahahaha.”
