After Alanis Morissette’s label, Maverick Records, chose to give Starbucks exclusive rights to her 10th anniversary acoustic edition of ‘Jagged Little Pill’ for the first six weeks of its release, HMV, the largest music chain in Canada, pulled the singer’s records from its shelves in protest. “My intention certainly was not to ruffle feathers in that department although it’s inevitable obviously,” Morissette told the Boston Herald. “I have had a really sweet and positive relationship with retailers my entire career.”

Alanis Morissette spoke with Us Weekly about her plans for the holidays with fiance Ryan Reynolds. “We’ve planned a 10-day trip to Bali for Christmas,” she revealed. “We’re going to scuba dive and rest - just romance it up.” The couple have yet to set a wedding date, “but we’re pretty spontanteous, so it could be a spur-of-the-moment thing,” Morissette said.

The Associated Press reports Alanis Morissette has become the latest international star to cancel a concert in Indonesia due to security fears, promoters said Tuesday. Morissette was due to perform Sunday in the capital Jakarta but pulled out following a U.S. travel advisory September 3rd warning of possible terror attacks in Indonesia, concert promoter Rini Noor told the local television station Metro TV.
Alanis Morissette performed at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, Canada on Thursday (August 19), and Ann Marie McQueen of the Ottawa Sun was on hand, giving the singer an impressive 4 out of 5 stars. McQueen writes, “Morissette never stopped tackling the high notes right to the end. And though she didn’t make much eye contact with the front row, sick or not, just as she’d hoped early on, there was plenty of energy to go around.”

So I’d wait till everyone was out of the house, and then I’d go to my room and sing.” While everyone else was copying Mariah Carey, Ashlee looked up to Alanis Morisette. “‘Jagged Little Pill’ was my first album,” Simpson revealed. “I bought it without my parents knowing when I was 11. My mom was mad that it had the F-word on it, so when my friends bought me tickets to the concert, she wouldn’t let me go. I was so angry that I said the F-word, and my mom washed my mouth out with soap.” She also said that she looks up to Fiona Apple and Joan Jett.
