Harry Styles Discusses Girls, Twitter, Stylist Caroline Watson

One Direction member Harry Styles live

Harry Styles from was on the phone with C95′s Matty B. in Saskatoon. The boyband member talked about the how the tour was going, how their ears hold up with all the screaming girls, their rapid success, why girls might like them, having millions of Twitter followers, how much he appreciates the group’s stylist Caroline Watson, and getting alone time.

On their success:

I think it’s just gone so quick, you know? Everything moved so quick. The support from the fans, in the UK, all around Europe, and in America and in Canada has just been unbelievable. It’s been so, so good. So supportive. It’s hard to believe places we haven’t been yet have given us support. We’ve been to Sweden a couple of times to record and we have a #1 album in Sweden, so it’s been really crazy.

On what might attract girls to the band:

I think the reason why people might come to like us is the fact that we’re quite relatable to teenage girls. We’re the kind of boys that you go to school with where we’re not from stage school. We haven’t been brought up to be in a band or live this life. It just happened we were given this massive opportunity. We’re all so grateful for it. We’re not the typical clean cut pop stars. We’re a little bit rougher. We’re the boys if a bra gets thrown on stage we pick it up and make a joke out of it.

On his massive Twitter following:

I think it adds pressure. Every time you go to Tweet, you have to think a lot of people are gonna see this. I did Tweet a while ago that I really fancy a donut and I did get a few actually.

On how the stylist makes them look so good in their music videos:

We have a lady called Caroline Watson who is really good at getting us and she she works a lot with us. She doesn’t go off and just go, ‘You’re gonna wear this.’ It’s a lot of conversation about what we feel comfortable in, things we want to wear. Obviously people’s style changes all of the time and she’s very good at accommodating that. If you don’t like something as much anymore and you might want to start doing something else, she’s really up for changing it.

On if he gets any alone time:

Yeah you do. Actually being on tour. When we’re not on tour and working in the city and stuff, and we’re in a really small car everyday. So being on tour, we’re in a big tour bus so we actually get more time to ourselves, so it’s all good. We get on very well. You’d think that after four days working with each other you’d want to be on your own, but we still choose to stay together.

One Direction’s Liam Payne Talks Texas Heat, New Album & Tour

One Direction member Liam Payne live

Billy the Kidd of 106.1 KISS FM in Dallas was backstage with and had the chance to chat with Liam Payne. They talked about the heat in Texas, how the tour has been going so far, getting their second album out by the end of the year and Simon liking what he’s heard so far, and his favorite part of America.

On the heat in Texas:

The thing is, when you get on an airplane, we flew over here today. When you get on an airplane it is so cold in the airplane. I had a hoodie on and everything. I was ready to get off and had my boots on today. We got off the airplane and I was like whoa! I got hit with a wall of heat like someone was blowing a hairdryer on me.

How the tour has been going:

It’s been going really good so far. We’ve had a little break in between. We’ve just been recording some of album #2, which has been going absolutely great. Simon popped into the studio which was good to see. He’s been very busy these days. He came in to listen to some of the songs just to see if we were on the right lines and he loved them fortunately, so we’re really happy.

On the new album’s release date:

It will be the end of this year. It’s gonna be very soon actually. We haven’t got that much longer to record it before we release. Obviously we’re doing the next tour that’s already sold and stuff.

Favorite part about America:

One of my favorite parts is going surfing actually. We went to Channel Island and bought loads of surfboards and we were surfing in California and stuff with one of our cameramen. It was a lot of fun.

One Direction On Fame, Getting Girls Phone Numbers & More

Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson of One Direction visit Citybeat

Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan appeared at Citybeat HQ for an interview with Stephen Clements the other day. The boyband talked about how they were formed on ‘The X Factor’, adjusting to performing for so many people so quickly, how they deal with fame and girls queuing up to give them their phone numbers.

Liam on the band’s initial stage:

It was a bit strange at first because we hadn’t really met and none of us had even spoke and we were told we were a band on stage with five people we’d never met, so yeah let’s just go for it and here we are.

Harry added:

It was basically if you look at it really bluntly it was either go home or stay in the competition (as a group). Obviously people go into the show to go as far as they can so that was still the goal.

Louis on performing for millions after having no formal training prior to ‘X Factor’:

When you put it like that it’s like wow but really in the audience it was only like 2 or 3 hundred people in the studio audience, so really you just concentrated on those and obviously the four judges and you didn’t really, even though you knew there was that many people watching (on TV), you didn’t really let it get in your head because they weren’t physically in front of you. So that helped.

Louis on fame:

We still don’t really feel famous. Even when someone will stop you and go “are you famous”? Well, obviously not because you’re asking me.

Harry on being “ready” for their fame:

I don’t think it’s really something you could ever prepare yourself for. I think you literally take it as it comes and kind of learn to grow with it and I don’t really know, go with the flow.

Liam added:

We’re all going through the same thing together so we can kind of look to each other for support really.

Louis on how unlike most guys, scoring a girl’s number is rather easy:

I don’t think there’s many male teenagers that wouldn’t mind being thrown a lot of female phone numbers, so yeah we love it.

One Direction On The Best & Worst Of Fame, Cannibalism Conundrum

One Direction (Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson) live

Katie of 93.3 FLZ got the chance to interview before their concert in Tampa, Florida on June 29th. Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson talked about crazy fan stories, the best and worst thing about fame, underwear choice, who they’d eat first if stuck on an island, and if they were a chair, which celebrity would they let sit on them. They also played a game called green light go or pump the brakes.

Harry on crazy fan stories:

Someone was hidden in a bin once. In a trash can. They were in there for about an hour I think.

Harry on favorite thing about fame:

I think favorite is you get to travel the world and you have all these amazing opportunities to meet people you’d probably never meet and go to places you’d never get to go, and a lot of the times when you get days off you get to do a lot of cool stuff.

Niall on the least favorite thing about fame:

I think we’d all agree on this one. Not being able to go home as much as we obviously would like to and see our friends and family. I think it’s like going from spending every day together with your friends and family and then having like last year I spent maybe 30 days at home. So it’s a big difference from 365 to zero.

On which group member they’d eat first if stuck on an island:

Harry: I feel like Liam [Payne] would have the most like meat on him.
Niall: Actually if I wanted to eat healthy I’d eat (Harry).

What celebrity they’d let sit on them if they were a chair:

Harry: Jennifer Love Hewitt
Louis: I always have to say I’d have to have Natalie Portman. She’s amazing.
Niall: Jennifer Lopez
Zayn Malik (popped in): Halle Berry

One Direction’s Niall Horan On Assumptions, Pet Peeves & Songwriting

One Direction member Niall Horan live

Natalie Pernick got the opportunity to interview Niall Horan of during the boyband’s concert the other night at the Patriot Center. Nial talked about having a chance to see the sights in Washington, DC, if he’d have a strategy on ‘The Hunger Games’, assumptions that people make about himself and his bandmates, pet peeves, relatable songs for him on their debut album ‘Up All Night’, their view on the group’s boy fans and getting a chance to do songwriting for their second LP.

On sightseeing in DC:

No. We’ve actually played here before on the Big Time Rush tour and we still haven’t seen much of it yet. Maybe soon. Maybe if we get invited back to the White House again maybe we can go see a little bit more of it.

On his strategy to survive ‘The Hunger Games’:

You know what, I’d give up because I’d get hungry too early. I’d probably die straight away.

What people wrongly assume about them:

People may think that we’re not nice people if they didn’t go by first impression, so first impressions are always quite a big thing for people because it could be the once and last time you might meet them in your life, but they might catch you on an off minute. Not everyone can go around smiling all day so celebrities in general people just assume they’re gonna be a bit off but they’re not.

Pet peeves:

I hate stubborn people who won’t move from their position. You can’t meet them in the middle. It’s always their way or no way.

Most relatable song for him on ‘Up All Night’:

I can relate to a couple… ‘Up All Night’ simply because it’s got us written all over it. When we heard that this is for us definitely, we like to stay up mostly because we can’t sleep. We stay up when we’re back home and party all night. Chill out. We’re teenage guys and we like to do what everyone else does. And maybe ‘One Thing’ because everyone knows that person you can’t put your finger on it.

On boy fans:

We want to see more of them. That’s what we came to do. We see them in the crowd and we’re like, ‘This is cool’. Obviously it’s 90% girls, but we want to try to expand to your regular teenage guys…

Songwriting for the new album:

Last week we were in Sweden. That’s where we do a lot of our recording. We recorded ‘What Makes You Beautiful’, ‘One Thing’, ‘I Wish’. Them guys are doing a little bit more of this album and when everyone else is recording we’re writing bits and pieces and came up with this one song that we really, really like. We’re written a couple of songs and we’re trying to do a bit more on this tour when we have a bit of time on the bus.

One Direction Discuss Twitter Follower Competition, Dancing Skills & More

One Direction (Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson) live

Trax FM in Doncaster caught up with Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson of the other day. The boyband discussed their favorite moment since ‘X Factor’, the great reaction they’ve been getting from fans doing radio station appearances, Louis getting some unexpected visitors playing a game of soccer with friends, the non-competition for Twitter followers, Zayn’s dancing “skills”, and the ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ concept.

Louis on his favorite moment:

Recording the music video in LA was absolutely fantastic. Had a great, great time, but for me it has to be performing at the O2 Arena during the X Factor arena tour. It was just phenomenal.

Harry on the great reaction outside of radio stations:

It’s been like this like this at some, and it’s been a bit quiet at others but support has been incredible. The fans have been so patient waiting for the single as well, so we’re really happy to get it out.

Louis on having some unexpected visitors during a 7-on-7 soccer match:

I think my best friend Stan put it on Facebook without remembering he’s actually got loads of One Direction fans on his Facebook, and everyone turned up. I’ve never, ever felt more under pressure playing football in my life. It was crazy.

If they compete on Twitter followers:

I don’t think we really compete with each other. And also, there is no competition, because Harry is running away with it.

Harry on Ed Sheeran writing some songs for the album:

Yeah he has written a couple of bits for us to vocal.

Zayn on dancing:

It’s just a confidence thing for me and I’ve learned not to take myself so serious now. It’s quite funny that I can’t dance so I just go with it and have a laugh.

Harry on ‘What Makes You Beautiful’:

The concept behind the song is basically that everyone has girls in their school that are hot and they kind of know that they’re hot, but there’s always one who is really pretty but she doesn’t know that she’s really pretty. It kind of adds to her whole thing, it makes her a little more attractive. The song is kind of about that girl.

Niall Horan Discusses Success, St. Patrick’s Day & The Queen

One Direction member Niall Horan live

The Kasper Show on 96.5 KISS FM in Cleveland, Ohio spoke on the phone with Niall Horan of the other day. The boyband member talked about their rapid rise, if the success seems surreal to them, the biggest culture shock to being in America, how he’s missing out on St. Patrick’s Day back home in Ireland, if they get fed up with each other, and if they’ve met the Queen of England.

On blowing up:

Everything has gone really well for us. The album is doing really well and let’s hope it keeps charting the way it is and we end up in the top spot next week.

On if it seems surreal:

It seems strange, especially coming out (to America) and getting the reception that we’re getting in the States. We expected to do a little bit in maybe Europe and the UK, but when America starts calling, it’s at another level and and we feel very grateful because we didn’t expect the album to do as well as it has been doing and it’s an album that we’re proud of and it’s doing very well out here.

On the biggest U.S. culture shock:

Times Square. It’s crazy. They don’t like advertising in America (sarcasm).

On missing St. Patrick’s Day back home in Ireland:

It’s a bit tough, but I can deal with it. I’m actually gonna be doing a signing in Philadelphia and I tweeted and told everyone that they need to dress up in as much green as possible and we have some surprises, so I’m bringing St. Patrick’s Day to America.

If they ever get fed up with each other:

We’re pretty much happy with each other for the most part. Sometimes when everyone gets tired maybe but that’s expected. It’s all good. We’re all good in the hood.

On if they’ve met the Queen of England:

No we haven’t actually and I wouldn’t mind that actually.

One Direction On American Cops, Niall Linked To Gillian McKeith’s Daughter

Niall Horan holds a baby doll as his One Direction bandmates Zayn Malik, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson look on

Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson of visited 96.9 Northsound 1 for an interview with Greigsy at Breakfast. The boyband discussed the new season of ‘The X Factor’, who they’d like to have as a mentor if they were competing in the new season, not winning the show, what they’ve been doing since the show, Louis getting pulled over in America shooting the music video, viewing McFly as role models, and a report that linked Niall to Gillian McKeith’s daughter.

Louis on what’s going through their minds during the winner reveal:

You just focus on everything that Dylan McDermott is saying honestly. Nothing else goes through your mind, you just anticipate and wait for the answer.

Louis on not winning:

As far as we were concerned, we were always gonna stay a band. As far as the record contract goes, Simon (Cowell) told us at the very start there’s no guarantees. Just because we had a fantastic fan base on ‘The X Factor’ that supported us throughout, there was no certainty that we were gonna have a record deal.

Harry on what they’ve been up to since the show:

We’ve been recording our album. Obviously it includes recording our single. We shot the music video which was a lot of fun and premieres today on Vevo.

On Louis getting pulled over shooting the video for speeding:

Well the guy was, well I wouldn’t say very nice. But he was okay. They just don’t take any nonsense over there. I was trying to have a laugh but he wasn’t really playing. They look at you and say, ‘I got a gun and I’m not afraid to use it.’

Zayn on American law enforcement:

It’s a complete different world out there (in America). It’s wicked, but a bit strange as well.

Louis on McFly:

Those guys are ultimate role models for us to be honest. They’ve been a band for about 8 years now. Actually I saw them at their very first gig. I went to see Busted live and they supported Busted.

Niall on dealing with gossip in the papers like a report he was dating Gillian McKeith’s daughter:

Basically the story there was me and Harry got in a picture with her and her sister, and I don’t know whoever sold the story cropped me and her and it got in the paper that we were together so I had to say no it’s not true. What you do is you don’t read it. I found out by someone telling me, but I never read it. I just got texted on it.

Not so much now. I used to get up two hours early, now I can get ready in 15 minutes.

Liam on what they’ve been up to after ‘X Factor’:

First off we went away recording the single, then we recorded the album and we did some Nintendo stuff and an arena tour. Yeah we just play games all day, so it was great, really good fun.

One Direction On Fan Dedication, Memorable Experiences & More

One Direction (Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson) live

Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson of visited with Tunigo during the boyband’s visit to Stockholm, Sweden. They talked about how popular they’ve suddenly become, what it feels like to have girls wait overnight just to meet them, what they miss about not being normal teenagers, who they’d like to have dinner with dead or alive, and the most memorable thing that’s happened to them.

Liam on the “boyband” label and being huge:

I think it’s been a really good week for us actually because we got the #1 single. The first one in the UK, so that was amazing. It went #1 here as well and our tour has sold out, so everything has just been going mad for us at the moment, it’s amazing.

Liam on what comes to their mind when girls sleep overnight to meet them:

We’ve been to Stockholm now three or four times, and the fan reception out here is always amazing. They were waiting at the airport. They stood outside our hotel all day or out to the studio, but to hear them sleeping out waiting just to see us is amazing.

Louis on what they miss the most not being normal teenagers:

Seeing family and friends as often as we did before this, but everything that we do is great and it’s massively exciting, but sometimes you just miss your mom a little bit.

Niall on who he’d like to have dinner with dead or alive:

Frank Sinatra, just because I always wanted to live in those times where it was just cigars and playing cards were on the table. You know, the whole Rat Pack thing, and he’s a legend.

Louis on the most memorable thing they’ve experienced:

For me performing on stage with Robbie Williams during ‘X Factor’ was unbelievable.

Harry on the most memorable thing they’ve experienced:

Mine is making music videos, they’ve been really cool to me. I think it’s like a big reality check because a lot of the time when we’re doing interviews and stuff it’s all really quick, really fast pace. You miss out loads of bits, but when you do a music video, it’s really weird to even think you’re doing a music video.
